Producing more Coal in Frostpunk 2 is always a good idea. It is an essential Resource that is also the lifeblood of your City. While Oil does keep the Heat pumping to houses, Coal is always a good backup idea, especially if a Whiteout is near. One of the sheer shot ways of improving your Coal production in Frostpunk 2 is by expanding the means to produce it. This can be done by building certain structures within the confines of your city, like:
- Dust Coal Mines (150)
- Advanced Blasting Coal Mine (180)
- Pyrolytic Charcoal Plant (120)
- Charcoal Regeneration Plant (150)
Keep in mind that while these buildings will increase the production of Coal, it comes at a cost. Squalor and Disease are bound to rise if you keep increasing production. This is unavoidable if you need Coal to maintain a certain level of Heat production, but do be careful when expanding rapidly. Your citizens will no longer remain healthy if things cross a certain threshold. It may also lead to Rallies and Riots in Frostpunk 2.
The means of production by which you can get more Coal in Frostpunk 2 are truly impressive and diverse. However, you will not gain access to them at the start of the game. To unlock some of these buildings, you need to research ideas under the Heating section. Once complete, and if you have the necessary Resources like Heatstamps, Prefabs, Workforce, and Cores, you can build them at your discretion. But once again, do keep a lookout for the negative effects of these buildings.
