As mentioned, the katana is one of the best weapons in Dead Rising aside from the submachine gun. It was a dominant weapon even back in the original 2006 title, Dead Rising. Here's how to get the katana from the very beginning of the game.

While there are multiple locations where a katana can be found, to get hold of the weapon as early in the game as possible, collect it from the Paradise Plaza. You will begin your story from the Paradise Plaza once you are done with the prologue.

As soon as you exit the Security Room for the first time in the game, you will have access to many shops. Here, you can collect the katana. You can find it hidden on a canopy on the second floor.

Enter the second floor of Paradise Plaza and find the Columbian Roastmasters. Go to the fridge at the rear of the store and spot the railing to the right to find the katana. Note that the weapon respawns here every time. You can return whenever you need a katana to kill zombies in the game.

Once you are done wiping out all the zombies and rescuing every survivor, you can proceed to play other modes like Overtime and Infinity.
