How to get the Modern bow in The Forest

Getting the Modern Bow isn’t exactly a walk in the park. As one of the most powerful weapons in The Forest, it demands serious preparation, a knack for exploration, and a fair bit of bravery. Found deep within Chasm Cave 7, this weapon is a must-have for players looking to dominate their enemies from a distance.

Where to find the Modern bow in The Forest

1) Prerequisites to get the Modern bow

Before you even think about chasing down the Modern Bow, make sure you are prepared. You will need:

• Rebreather: For underwater.
• Climbing Axe: This is a must for scaling through some walls.
• Enough supplies: This run can be deadly with lots of enemies and tricky terrain, so come prepared with enough weaponry, armor, medicine, and ammo. You may have to run past enemies sometimes, but it's less risky if you fight them head-on, especially with barricades around.

2) Starting your journey

To begin your hunt for the Modern Bow, follow the path into the Giant Sinkhole in the center of the map. If you haven't discovered it yet, look for the mountain in the distance. Head in that direction and follow the land bridge just north of the Sinkhole to the cave where the Modern Bow awaits.

When you reach the cave, step inside, proceed with care, and switch on your flashlight as it's dark. Then, there's a hallway with dangling corpses, so keep your attention straight on your journey to come out safely. At the end of this section, there’s a drop-down with a rope. You'll be facing mutants and cannibals here, so it's best to clear them out or be prepared to dodge them.

4) Navigation of the cave

After taking care of the enemies, you'll enter a giant room. Stick to the left side, avoid the large hole in the center, and look for the first rope drop. Take it down, then find another rope drop to your left. This leg of the journey will take you further into the cave system.

Once you go down the ropes and find yourself on a ledge, you'll see a climbing wall on your left. It's here that the Climbing Axe will be of great use. Use it to climb across and head down to the next rope drop. You will do this again, climbing and descending, until you get to a critical section of the cave.

5) Combat and escape

As you explore further, more enemies will block your path and include mutants, baby mutants, and so on, and you'll have the opportunity to fight or run past them; simply be vigilant while doing so. After squeezing through another narrow passage, you’ll reach a larger room with a hole. Do not fall into it — stay to the left and take the rope on the other side.

At this point post clearing the mutants and breaking the wooden barricade, check your O2 tanks for the Rebreather. Now is the time to make sure you’re stocked. Jump into the hole, swim down and around, following a U-shaped path, and you’ll eventually come to a cave opening.

6) Finding the Modern Bow

You’ll know you’re getting close when you see gore spread across the floor and a few boxes near a tent. The Modern Bow sits right on top of the boxes, ready for you to grab.
