The Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley is a freshwater fish that can be caught in any season. You need it to complete the Community Center Bundle and Willy’s quest during the Desert Festival. However, catching a Scorpion Carp at lower fishing levels can be challenging because of its higher rarity and erratic movements when hooked.

That said, certain ways make obtaining this desert fish easier. So, if you’re struggling to catch one, this guide will walk you through various ways you can get a Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley.

The most reliable method to obtain a Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley is by fishing with a high-quality fishing rod in the ponds of the Calico Desert. Unlike some other fish in Stardew Valley, Scorpion Carps can be caught regardless of the season at any time between 6 am to 8 pm as long as you’re on Fishing Level 4 or above.

The Calico Desert area is located on the northwestern side of Pelican Town and can be unlocked by completing the Vault Bundles at the Community Center or by purchasing the “Bus Repair” option from Joja Community Development Form.

2) Purchasing from the Traveling Cart

You can find the Traveling Cart in the Cindersap Forest every Friday and Sunday. The Cart offers a random selection of items for you to purchase on every visit. Hence, there is a random chance to find a Scorpion Carp as one of the items on the Traveling Cart’s inventory. However, do note that the price can fluctuate anywhere between 450g to 1000g.

This method heavily relies on luck and it can take a while before the Traveling Cart has this for sale. However, it’s your only option to get a Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley if you don’t have access to Calico Desert or haven’t reached Fishing Level 4 yet.

3) Using the Magic Bait

A Magic Bait is a unique and rare item that can be crafted once you reach Fishing Level 7. The item can catch any fish in the game regardless of season, time, or weather conditions. It’s an efficient way to target hard-to-obtain fish species like the Scorpion Carp.

However, the Magic Bait requires several rare items like Radioactive Ore and Bug Meat to craft. Unfortunately, these may not be available in abundance if you’re in the early game.
