You can purchase Slime Hutch for your farm from Robin’s Carpenter Shop for 10,000g. Additionally, you will also need to provide her with the following building materials:
- 500 Stone
- Ten Refined Quartz
- One Iridium Bar
Robin will take two days to build the Slime Hutch on your farm. Once the structure is ready, Marlon from Adventurer’s Guild will visit you and provide you with a Slime Egg. The egg will hatch into Slime, allowing you to start breeding Slimes immediately.
How to use Slime Hutch to obtain Slime Eggs?
Constructing a Slime Hutch unlocks the ability to produce Slime Eggs. There are five different colors of eggs that hatch into their respective Slime variants: Red, blue, purple, green, and tiger.
You can obtain Slime Eggs in the following two ways:
1) Slime Egg-Press
Slime Egg-Press is a craftable item that you can use to produce your own Slime Egg by putting 100 Slime into the Egg-Press. However, you need to be at least Combat Level six to unlock the crafting recipe for it.
To craft one, you will need the following items:
- 25 Coal
- One Fire Quartz
- One Battery Pack
2) Breeding Slimes
Once you have at least five Slimes in your Hutch, there is a chance that a male and female Slime will mate to produce one Slime Egg. Eggs hatch into baby Slimes in two to three days and their color will depend upon the parents. However, there is a chance to obtain a baby Slime of completely random color.
Do note that you must provide ample water to your Slime Hutch to facilitate the breeding process to obtain Slime Eggs and Slime Balls. You can ensure this by manually filling the four troughs in the Hutch with a Watering Can or by placing Water Sprinklers nearby.
How to use Slime Hutch to make money
Slimes are a hostile mob and will attack you as soon as you enter the Hutch. That said, protect yourself by placing flooring in the Hutch followed by fences to safeguard your entry and exit points. Alternatively, you can use the Slime Charmer ring from Adventurer's Guild to stop Slimes from attacking you.
Once you have a safe area, you can use a weapon to kill some slimes in the Hutch to obtain Slime-related drops like Sap and Slime Balls. While Saps are rather uninteresting, Slimes Balls can burst into multiple Slimes to keep your farm populated.
It is recommended that you spend some time acquiring Slime Eggs as they are a great source of income. The eggs can be sold from anywhere between 1,000g to 8,000g based on the color, making Slime Hutch a valuable investment if you’re looking to make some sweat-free income in Stardew Valley.
