Thunder Egg in Stardew Valley is one of the 53 types of minerals that you can obtain in the game. Its item description talks about a legend that says angry thunder spirits would throw these stones at each other. However, apart from this vague sentence, the game provides no more details about where to find this item or how to use it.

You can find Thunder Eggs randomly by mining Geodes and Omni Geodes. There is a 1/32 chance to obtain one from the Geode mineral deposit and a much slimmer chance of 31/2750 to get one Thunder Egg from Omni Geode deposits.
To obtain the item inside a Geode or Omni Geode, take it to the blacksmith, who will break it open for you for a cost of 25g per Geode. Alternatively, you can also craft a Geode Crusher by completing Clint's Special Order "Cave Patrol" quest.
Where to find Geodes and Omni Geodes
Geodes are found randomly by breaking rocks spread across the Valley and dungeons. You can also obtain Geodes by killing Duggies in the Underground area or inside a Stardew Valley Treasure Chest obtained while fishing.
On the other hand, Omni Geodes are exclusive to the Mines dungeon and can only be obtained by breaking rocks on Floors 21 to 120. Omni Geodes have a much wider range of items inside them. However, this makes finding Thunder Egg a lot more difficult by breaking Omni Geodes.
How to use Thunder Egg in Stardew Valley
Unfortunately, Thunder Egg is a rather useless item. However, if you have some lying around, there are a few things you can do with it. The simplest option would be to sell it to any merchant for 100g. If you have the Gemologist profession, you can sell it for 130g instead.
You can also gift Thunder Egg to various Stardew Valley NPCs, but only the Wizard likes the item. Alternatively, you can also use it for dyeing clothes. Simply go to the Sewing Machine at Emily and Haley’s house to create a Shirt, which can then be dyed purple using the Thundering Egg.
Apart from selling and dyeing, there are no major uses for Thundering Egg at this moment. So if you have some lying around, it’s probably best to just sell them off.
