How to get Z Sand in Hades 2

Z Sand in Hades 2 is a rare resource item found in the endgame. It allows you to craft strong endgame incantations at the Cauldron in the Crossroads. While Silver, Lotus, and Moly are acquired relatively early, Z Sand is one of the last resources you will acquire in your playthrough.

Because of how difficult it is to find, this item can serve as a roadblock to acquiring high-level powerups. This guide will take you through how to use and get Z Sand in Hades 2.

Getting Z Sand in Hades 2

Z Sand in Hades 2 is acquired as a reward for defeating Chronos, the game's final boss. That said, reaching this foe is a difficult feat all in itself. Here are the challenges you will need to clear successfully to obtain this rare item:

• Clear Erebus and defeat Hecate.
• Clear the Oceanus biome and defeat Scylla and Sirens.
• Beat Infernal Cerebus in Fields of Mourning.
• Pass through Tartarus and defeat Chronos.

You can obtain Z Sand only after overcoming these challenges and successfully claiming your victory over Chronos. After defeating him and his dialogue ends, you will find a piece of Z Sand on a circular platform.

Since only beating Chronos drops this item, you need to complete multiple runs successfully to gather more Z Sand in Hades 2.

How to use Z Sand in Hades 2

Currently, there are two uses of this Z Sand in Hades 2. You can use it to unlock two incantations or the final Arcana Card.

Incantations and their use

Once you have defeated Chronos and acquired your first Zodiac Sand, you will unlock new incantations at the Cauldron in the Crossroads. The first one is called Summoning of Historic Travails and requires the following items:

• Three Marbles
• One Z Sand

After performing this incantation, you will unlock the ability to spawn Learned Sage in the Crossroads. This brand-new NPC will provide a detailed breakdown of each run in the Underworld. That includes the boons you used during your playthrough, the bosses you cleared, and how far you got in your run.

The second incantation is called Power to Pause and Reflect and requires the following items:

• Three Moly
• Three Z Sand

As its name implies, this incantation grants you the ability to pause the game during your battle with Chronos.

While it may not sound like much, it can be a great help if you ever feel overwhelmed by this foe and require some time to rethink your approach.

Arcana Card and its use

Z Sand can be used to unlock the final Arcana Card in Hades 2. This card is called Judgment and takes the following items:

• 50 Ash
• One Z Sand

This Arcana card randomly activates any three inactive Arcana card effects, allowing you to capitalize on the power of inactivated cards as well.

While you cannot select which card Judgment will get activated, it can significantly help your run by equipping additional power-ups to your limited Arcana slots.
