The most important part of the Messmer cosplay build in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is the weapon; we'll be using his own, Spear of the Impaler. After defeating Messmer, the Impaler, you can trade his Remembrance with Enia at the Roundtable Hold for this weapon. While you're there, also purchase Messmer's Armor Set. Lastly, we'll need the correct talismans to boost our fire damage with this build.

Here's what your equipment should look like for the Messmer cosplay build:

  • Primary weapon: Spear of the Impaler
  • Seal: Fire Knight's Seal
  • Armor: Messmer's armor set
  • Spells: Fire Serpent, Messmer's Orb
  • Talisman: Dragoncrest Greatshield, Shard of Alexander, Fire Scorpion Charm, Rotten Winged Sword Insignia
  • Crystal Tear: Flame-Shrouding Cracked Tear, Greenburst Crystal Tear

If you want the Messmer's Orb spell, you will have to duplicate Messmer's Remembrance. However, this spell requires 60 Faith, so make sure you meet the stat requirements before trading for it. You can duplicate his Remembrance by visiting one of the three duplication coffins in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Spear of the Impaler has the Messmer's Assault Ash of War, which can take up to three separate inputs to deliver a devastating combo. This move should be your go-to if you're using the Messmer cosplay build in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

For the maximum amount of damage with the Spear of the Impaler, we'll be putting points into Dexterity and Faith. This will help us to maximize both the physical and the fire damage that we'll be dealing with this weapon. Vigor is also important because enemies in the Land of Shadow hit hard; anywhere around 50–60 Vigor is enough for this build.

Endurance needs to be at least 30+, and Mind also needs to be between 25 and 30 since we'll be using a lot of spells and our Ash of War.
