1) Herring

Herring is a fish species exclusive to two Dreamlight Valley biomes: Glade of Trust and Dazzle Beach. To catch one, head to either of the biomes and look for white ripples in ponds or lakes. Cast the fishing rod into these ripples and wait for a bite. Reel in at the correct moment to catch the fish. It might take a few tries to capture a Herring as it isn't the only type of fish in the water.

If you don’t have the biomes unlocked already, you can unlock Dazzle Beach by spending 1,000 Dreamlight while Glade of Trust can be unlocked for 5,000 Dreamlight.

2) Onion

Onions are comparatively easier to obtain. Simply head to Goofy’s Stall in the Forest of Valor biome where you can purchase one unit of Onion for 255 Star Coins. Alternatively, you can buy a bag of Onion Seeds for 50 Star Coins.

If you buy the seeds, plant them in the backyard of your house at the Plaza and water them regularly. Each seed will produce three units of Onions after one hour and fifteen minutes.

How to cook and use Sweet Herring in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Cooking Stations need one unit of Coal each time you cook something. If you don’t have it already, Coal can be easily obtained by mining rocks across the Valley. Once you have the Coal and the two required ingredients, head to a Cooking Station, add the ingredients in the cooking pot in any order, and select “Start Cooking”.

The Sweet Herring will be ready in a few moments. The dish can be consumed to restore 723 energy or it can be sold for a decent price of 305 Star Coins. The Fairy Godmother also requests Sweet Herring as her “favorite thing of the day”. Gifting her the requested dish will improve your friendship with the Disney character.

The meal can be also placed in the overworld as a decoration. To do so, highlight Sweet Herring inside the Inventory and select ”Drop”. After a meal has been removed from your inventory, it can be positioned anywhere you want using the game's furniture placement mode.
