The Anvil Hammer might look like an ordinary Strength-scaling weapon in Elden Ring, but it's easily one of the most powerful new tools you'll get access to in Shadow of the Erdtree. While most weapons in the expansion are obtained either in the overworld or via the legacy dungeons, some of the most powerful ones are hidden behind special dungeons called the Ruined Forge.
Although it's called a "Hammer," the Anvil Hammer is categorized as a Colossal weapon, so it scales incredibly well with Strength. And much like any other Colossal weapon in Elden Ring, the Anvil Hammer can easily break the posture of even the tankiest boss with just a few regular or jump attacks.
Here's a comprehensive guide on obtaining the Anvil Hammer in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Where to find the Anvil Hammer in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?
The Anvil Hammer can be found in the Ruined Forge Lava Intake, which is one of the new side-dungeons added to Elden Ring with Shadow of the Erdtree. The Ruined Forge Lava Intake can be found toward the northern side of the Gravesite Plains, i.e., the first area of the DLC, and is accessible right after you reach the Castle Front Site of Grace.
Travel through the narrow path on the left of the Messmer's Soldier camp, and you will eventually reach a crossroads. From the crossroads, take the path leading to the right and you will eventually stumble upon a group of Bloodfiends (Orcs) fighting against a handful of Messmer's Soldiers.
Get past the enemies and head straight to find the Ruined Forge Lava Intake dungeon. The Ruined Forges scattered across the Realm of Shadow don't feature any traditional boss fight, which is a common occurrence in most Catacombs and dungeons in the base game as well as the DLC for Elden Ring.
Instead, the Ruined Forges involve a series of lever-based puzzles and a few platforming sections, at the end of which you're rewarded with rare Smithing Stones as well as highly powerful "Smithscript" weapons. The Anvil Hammer is obtained by interacting with the Anvil, which you reach at the end of the Ruined Forge Lava Intake.
The Anvil Hammer doesn't allow you to switch its Ash of War, but the one it comes with—Smithing Art Spears—is already an incredibly powerful AOE ability, capable of dealing a ton of damage and affecting enemy posture. Additionally, the Anvil Hammer scales with both, Intelligence and Faith, alongside Strength.
