Yes, Golden Lining can technically deal more damage with its Focus-charged attacks. However, building up that Focus isn't easy as it requires performing see-through combos. This is where the Dark Thunder Transformation wins in comparison, dealing a ton of damage while also providing ample defense to power through most attacks.

Prerequisites for obtaining the Dark Thunder Transformation in Black Myth Wukong

To obtain the Dark Thunder Transformation Spell, you need to complete the Horse Guai's questline. However, instead of being chapter-specific (like most NPC questlines in Black Myth Wukong), the Horse Guai questline spans across all the chapters, save for Chapter 6. Furthermore, getting the Transformation requires you to progress quite far into the main story.

Here are all the locations where you will find the Horse Guai in Black Myth Wukong:

• Chapter 1 (Black Wind Mountain): Near the Back Hill Keeper's Shrine.
• Chapter 2 (Yellow Wind Ridge): Near the Village Entrance Keeper's Shrine.
• Chapter 3 (The New West): Near the New the New Thunderclap Temple Entrance Keeper's Shrine.
• Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow): Near the Centipede Guai boss arena.
• Chapter 5 (The Flaming Mountain): Near the Furnace Valley Entrance Keeper's Shrine.
