How to obtain Death Knight's armor set in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

The Death Knights are easily the coolest NPCs that have been added to Elden Ring via the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, despite being relegated to optional dungeon boss status. Restricted to the Catacombs found across the opening section of the Gravesite Plains, the Death Knights are the last remnants of Godwyn's army.

Unfortunately, the Death Knights don't appear in the overworld, akin to Messmer's Soldiers or the Black Knights, who you can farm endlessly for their gear. However, you can still obtain the Death Knights' armor set, albeit not via farming. The entire armor set can be found in one of the end-game Catacombs in the Elden Ring DLC.

Where to find the Death Knight armor set in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

The Death Knight armor set is found deep inside the Darklight Catacombs, which is only accessible after you've visited the Shadow Keep. The nearest Site of Grace to the Darklight Catacombs is the Recluses' River Downstream. Once you arrive at the Darklight Catacomb, progress through the dungeon up to its second level to get the armor set.

The gimmick behind the Darklight Catacomb is that you need to progress through each level of the dungeon in complete darkness with only your torch being the source of light. Each level has a hidden contraption that you need to interact with to illuminate said level.

Progress through the first level, which is fairly linear. When you reach the second level, head straight through the alleyway that's in front of the elevator that you used to access the level. Dispatch the Fanged Imps in the alley and head to the ladder behind the first big pillar.

Climb the ladder to reach the lever that you need to pull to activate the lamps on the level. Once the lamps are active, head down the ladder and on the broken archway in front of you. Here, you will find a small gap where you can fall to a small ledge. This ledge leads to an adjacent room that contains the Death Knight armor set.

The Death Knight armor set although fashioned around the Prince of Death, Godwyn, doesn't affect any of the Deathblight Incantations in Elden Ring. Instead, you get a boost to the Ancient Dragon Communion Incantations if you wear the full Death Knight set.

Once you grab the Death Knight armor set, head down the ladder in front of you to exit the level and reach the final floor of the Catacomb. The Final floor of the Darklight Catacomb opens to the boss fight against Jori, Elder Inquisitor, who is a mandatory boss you need to defeat to access the Abyssal Woodlands region of the Shadow Realm.

Much like the Cerulean Coast or the Jagged Peak Mountain, the Abyssal Woodlands is an optional area in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. This area leads to Midra's Manse, which subsequently is one of the best boss fights in the DLC - Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame.
