The Gold Spikeplate is one of the few Epic rarity Curios in Black Myth Wukong. Surprisingly enough, it can be obtained fairly early in the game, granting the Destined One a significant boost in terms of Defense. However, much like most of the powerful Curios in the game, the Gold Spikeplate is locked behind an optional enemy encounter that's completely missable.
Unlike some of the other powerful Curios like the Beast Buddha, Tiger Tendon Belt, and Thunderflame Seal, the Gold Spikeplate cannot be farmed as a random enemy drop. Instead, it's a guaranteed drop for defeating a specific enemy type in Black Myth Wukong's Chapter 3 - The New World.
Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain the Gold Spikeplate in Black Myth Wukong.

Where to find the Gold Spikeplate in Black Myth Wukong
The Gold Spikeplate is obtained upon defeating the giant elite enemy types called the Dark-faced Overlord, which appear close to the New Thunderclap Temple in Chapter 3 (The New West). You will fight your very first giant on your path toward the Captain Kalpa-Wave boss fight. You will find two more of these giants near the Mahavira Hall Keeper's Shrine.
However, none of these giants drop the Gold Spikeplate. Instead, it's dropped by a secret giant that can be found towards the west from the Longevity Road Keeper's Shrine, in the Valley of Ecstacy. Finding this giant is quite simple, as long as you proceed straight through the westbound path from the Shrine.
Upon defeating the secret Dark-faced Overlord, he will drop the Gold Spikeplate Curios. Note that you can only obtain one of the Gold Spikeplate Curios per playthrough. If you're having trouble with the Dark-faced Overlord enemies, here are some tips that should help you easily defeat them:
- Invest into Smash Stance, and Focus build-up talents.
- Use Immobilize and Cloud Step to create openings for attack and reposition yourself.
- After dealing a hefty amount of damage or staggering the Overlord, it drops its head down momentarily. Attack the head to deal significantly more damage, preferably using charged-heavy attacks.
- Steer clear of the foot stomps and ground smash attacks, which can easily stagger you and deal a ton of damage in the process.
The Gold Spikeplate comes with two primary perks, as opposed to one that's usually bound to most Curios in Black Myth Wukong. Firstly, the Curios moderately increases Defense, which stacks with other Defense-buffing Curios, i.e., Agate Jar. Secondly, with the Gold Spikeplate equipped, enemies that land a hit on you also take a slight amount of damage.
