How to obtain Rakshasa's Great Katana in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Rakshasa

The Rakshasa's Great Katana is undoubtedly the strongest weapon in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, purely in terms of DPS. While yes, the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword and the Bloodfiend's Blood Arm can also deal a ton of damage based on your Arcane stat, nothing compares to the sheer, unadulterated damage dealt by the regular attacks of the Rakshasa's Great Katana.

Two things make the Rakshasa's Great Katana a superior choice to any other weapon in Elden Ring: its low stat requirement and its ability to reduce stagger/knockback while attacking.

While there are some drawbacks to using this massively overpowered Great Katana, the damage it deals makes up for its shortcomings. Here's a comprehensive guide on obtaining the Rakshasa's Great Katana in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Where to find Rakshasa's Great Katana in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

Rakshasa's Great Katana can be found in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum, accessible via the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace. However, to reach the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace, you must first reach Scadu Altus and make your way to the Shadow Keep's first floor. The Shadow Keep is a legacy dungeon, perhaps the biggest in Elden Ring.

Additionally, you must defeat Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, to reach Scadu Altus, and the Golden Hippopotamus to reach Shadow Keep's first floor. Once you reach the Storehouse, First Floor Site of Grace, head back into the elevator to the south and descend to the lower level.

You will come across a Fire Knight in the alley that connects to the elevator; defeat it to proceed forward. From the alley, take a left and keep an eye on the ledge to find a ladder leading to the area below. Head down the ladder and you will eventually come across a room with a painting and an illusory wall connecting to the Ruins of Ante.

From the Ruins of Ante, proceed to the north as usual, until you reach the Ellac River Upstream Site of Grace, and subsequently, the Ellac River Downstream Site of Grace. From the Downstream Site of Grace, head north and you will find a set of tombstone "ledges" which you can use to drop down to the area below.

Carefully reach the bottom of the plateau, and head left. This will take you to the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum, where you must fight another specter, Rakshasa. Defeat the boss to obtain the Rakshasa's armor set and the mighty Rakshasa's Great Katana. Sidenote, Rakshasa's Great Katana synergizes really well with Rakshasa's armor set.

However, equipping both the complete Rakshasa's inflicts a penalty on your overall defense. Thankfully, you can make up for the lost defense using the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman and Pearldrake Talisman +3.
