How to obtain the Talisman of the Dread in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The Talisman of the Dread enhances Magma-based Incantations, most of which are exclusive to Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. As the name of the item might suggest, it's loosely related to Bayle the Dread, featured in the most spectacular Dragon boss fight that has been added with the newly released expansion.

Like any other Drake in Elden Ring, defeating Bayle the Dread rewards you with the Dragon's "Heart," which you can exchange for incredibly powerful offensive Incantations at the Dragon Communion altar. With the Talisman of the Dread, you can significantly enhance the effectiveness of those Dragon Incantations.

Where to find the Talisman of the Dread in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

You can technically obtain the Talisman of the Dread as soon as you step foot into Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. All you need to do is head to the southwestern region of Castle Ensis, and you will eventually reach the Elder's Hovel, which is where you will find it. The cabin has a dead body holding the Talisman of the Dread. Interact with the corpse to obtain the item.

Alternatively, you can go to the same place for the talisman a little later.

This method involves going to Elder's Hovel after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight, and making your way to Scadu Altus. From Scadu Altus, you need to head northwest, past an enemy campsite as well as a Ghostflame Dragon, to reach the Fort of Reprimand. This is where you can find the Flamedrake Talisman +3.

From the Fort of Reprimand, you need to head south and jump a couple of Spiritsprings to ultimately make your way to the Elder's Hovel.

Another way to obtain the Talisman is to reach this place via the Gravesite Plains, the opening area in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Simply make your way to the Castle Front Site of Grace. From there, follow the southeastern route, which will eventually take you to a small poison swamp area. Keep to the right of the poison swamp and climb up the small rock-like formation at the edge of the plateau.

From there, head a bit to the east, and you will eventually come across a vast open area with a Spiritspring to the left. Go past it to find the small run-down shack with the corpse.
