The Wukong Stance is something that Black Myth Wukong doesn't spend too much time dwelling on, despite its narrative as well as gameplay significance. You get to try out the Wukong Stance when you first boot up the game's main campaign and step into the shoes of the titular Stone Monkey - Sun Wukong, embodying his powers and combat skills.

After that, you're again given access to the Wukong Stance when you reach Chapter 6 - Mount Huaguo, and collect the entire Monkey King's set as well as the Jingubang Staff. From that point forward, you're free to use the Wukong Stance, albeit exclusively within Black Myth Wukong Chapter 6.

However, there's a way to get the incredibly overpowered Wukong Stance outside of the game's final chapter, and no, we're not talking about mods. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to obtain the Wukong Stance in Black Myth Wukong.

Prerequisites for obtaining the Wukong Stance in Black Myth Wukong

To obtain the Wukong Stance in Black Myth Wukong, you need to essentially complete the game at least three times, within the same save, i.e., up to New Game+2. The primary requirement for unlocking the Wukong Stance is to max out all the Relics in the game, including the final Relic - Freed Mind, which is only unlocked after defeating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity.

Here is a rundown of all the necessary steps for obtaining the Wukong Stance in Black Myth Wukong:

  • Defeat Erlang, the Sacred Divinity and unlock the true ending of Black Myth Wukong.
  • Progress through New Game+2, while defeating Erlang on every New Game+ playthrough
  • Unlock all the Relic skills.
  • Equip the Monkey King's set and Jingubang Staff to use the Wukong Stance.

It should be noted that while you do unlock the Wukong Stance after defeating Erlang, the Sacred Divinity in New Game+2, you will only get to properly use the Stance in the next New Game+ cycle. Furthermore, with every New Game+ cycle, the game substantially increases the difficulty by buffing the enemy and boss HP as well as damage output.

Lastly, it is necessary to work toward the optional, true ending of Black Myth Wukong on every New Game+ playthrough. If you skip out the battle against Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, you won't receive the upgrade point for the Freed Mind Relic. Thankfully, the battle isn't progression-gated and can be done even after you get the normal ending.

Once you obtain the Wukong Stance, you can only activate it when you have the full Monkey King's set equipped, alongside the Jingubang. Sadly, the Wukong Stance doesn't apply to any other armor and weapon combinations. After you have the Stance unlocked and also the Monkey King's set equipped, simply press the heavy attack button to activate it.
