The latest platform fighter from WB Games is surprisingly complex, so some players are having a hard time understanding how to parry in MultiVersus. Its fast-paced combat means one must stay vigilant at all times, looking for the perfect opportunity to swoop in to attack. That said, the timely execution of defensive maneuvers is equally important.

Parrying forms the basis of the more advanced MultVersus abilities. As such, while newcomers may have a harder time doing it, players who have been engaged with the game since its early beta stages will likely be far more capable. This guide aims to help gamers who want to learn how to parry in MultiVersus.

How can players parry in MultiVersus?

On paper, parrying in MultiVersus is fairly simple. To do so, you must press the Dodge button right when an enemy's attack lands. This button is independent of any directional inputs. When you press Dodge, characters will perform a parry instead of a dodge on the spot.

Here is the Dodge input across different platforms:

  • PC (Keyboard & Mouse): Left Shift
  • PlayStation: L1
  • Xbox: LB

While it is easy to grasp, pulling off a parry in MultiVersus is the tough part. Player First Games' latest project is a chaotic experience, especially in 2v2 scenarios, with a barrage of air attacks and other complex inputs. Furthermore, parrying also utilizes the dodge meter in the game.

This bar governs how many times players can avoid an attack. Simply put, it allows you to dodge six times, which empties the meter. Players must wait for the bar to fill back up to use dodge again and attacking foes will help fill it at a faster rate. As such, emptying the gauge with necessary dodging is not recommended, as it can land players in trouble against tough opponents.

That said, practice is key. With 27 varied characters in MultiVersus, each boasting distinct playstyles, dedicated players will need to take their time nailing down the attack patterns and speed of each character, especially the ones they will main.

After a long period of early access, MultiVersus is finally available in its 1.0 state for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S platforms.
