The super-soldier-serum-injected hero has exceptional stamina, and with his shield, he can protect squishy damage dealers and healers on his team. The trick used to increase Captain America’s damage potential in Marvel Rivals is called “attack cancel.” This technique was first brought to light by a user on X (formerly Twitter) named av²ry?. Here’s how you can use it:

- Open the settings menu for Captain America and locate the setting titled “Hold to Dash” under the combat settings (keyboard or controller tab). Turn this option off. This step is crucial because the trick relies on toggling sprint quickly without needing to hold a button.
- The attack cancel trick exploits Captain America’s ability to interrupt his attack animations by sprinting. Normally, Captain America’s attacks have a full animation cycle. By sprinting immediately after initiating an attack, you cancel the animation. After sprinting, start another attack. This resets the animation and allows for quicker follow-ups. When executed correctly, you can chain attacks much faster than usual, effectively doubling Captain America’s damage output.

The sequence is simple: Attack > Sprint > Attack > Sprint. However, getting the rhythm right is key. Start slow and gradually increase your speed as you become more comfortable.
Pay attention to cooldowns, as some of Captain America’s abilities may benefit from this trick as well. Practice incorporating special abilities into your attack-cancel rhythm. Additionally, sprinting helps you stay close to mobile enemies, especially squishy backliners.
Once you’ve mastered the technique, focus on targeting squishy backline heroes. With this trick, you can burst them down almost as quickly as a DPS character.
Thanks to Captain America’s high defense and HP, this trick enables you to adopt a more aggressive bruiser role.
