How to play Mavuika in Genshin Impact: Rotations, playstyle, and ideal stats

Mavuika, a new 5-Star Pyro unit released in Genshin Impact 5.3 — is the Pyro Archon — and her strength and damage output as a playable character reflect her status. In Genshin Impact, most of the Archons generally fill the role of a support or sub-DPS character. However, Mavuika is meant to be played as an on-field DPS. While she can also be used as an off-field support, her kit is meant for use in a very strong on-field Pyro DPS role.

How to play Mavuika in Genshin Impact

Mavuika's kit overview

As mentioned, Mavuika is a 5-Star Pyro unit that works the best as an on-field Pyro DPS. Hence, it is recommended that players use her in team compositions where she can shine as the main DPS.

1) Elemental Skill

Mavuika's Elemental Skill is capable of dealing a lot of damage and can be used in two ways: Tapping or Holding. Tapping Mavuika's Elemental Skill creates a "Ring of Searing Radiance," which is a flaming ring that is created around the active on-field character. This ring follows the character and deals Pyro damage to nearby enemies at intervals.

Holding Mavuika's Elemental Skill creates the "Flamestrider," a motorbike that allows her to ride at extremely high speeds on land, water, and even the air. In this state, all her attacks (Normal, Charged, and Plunging) are infused with Pyro, which cannot be overridden.

You can switch between the two versions of Mavuika's Elemental Skill (while she is in the Nightsoul's Blessing state) by simply tapping her Elemental Skill again.

2) Elemental Burst

Mavuika is the first character in Genshin Impact to not require Energy for her Elemental Burst. Instead, she requires "Fighting Points," which are accumulated whenever Mavuika or other teammates hailing from Natlan use up Nightsoul points while in combat. She also gains some Fighting Spirit points when other party members (including non-Natlan characters) attack enemies using Normal attacks.

Once Mavuika has a certain amount of Fighting Spirit, she can use her Elemental Burst. After activating her Elemental Burst, Mavuika rides her Flamestrider and performs a "Sunfell Slice," which deals AoE Pyro DMG. At the same time, she enters a state called the "Crucible of Life and Death." In this state, her attacks do not consume any Nightsoul points anymore, and her interruption RES is also enhanced.

Mavuika's playstyle and rotations

Since Mavuika can be played in both on-field and off-field roles, her rotations and playstyle for both will be different. Ideally, Mavuika's high multipliers deal incredible amounts of damage as an on-field DPS, which is why it is recommended that her role in the team be that of a DPS, backed up by support. You can follow this rotation for a standard Mavuika DPS team:

• Tap Mavuika's Elemental Skill to create the Ring of Searing Radiance around your active character.
• Switch to your other support/sub-DPS characters (preferably Natlan characters) and use their Elemental SKills/Bursts to gather Fighting Spirit for Mavuika.
• Switch to Bennett (who is a must-have for on-field DPS Mavuika teams) and use his Elemental Burst.
• With Mavuika's Fighting Spirit now full, unleash her Elemental Burst and perform Charged/Plunging attacks on the enemy.

Mavuika has a pretty good off-field Pyro application, and can also be used as an off-field support for your other DPS characters. Follow this rotation if using Mavuika in an off-field support/sub-DPS role:

• Start by setting up the rotation with your support characters' Elemental Skills/Burst. For example, if you are using Xilonen, perform both her Elemental Skill and her Elemental Burst.
• Switch to Mavuika and use her Elemental Burst, so that her A4 passive is triggered. Then, tap Elemental Skill to create the Ring of Searing Radiance.
• Finally, switch to your main DPS (for example Mualani), and deal damage while triggering appropriate reactions.

For a main DPS Mavuika, the 4-piece Obsidian Codex is her best artifact set. Use the following main stats on the artifact pieces:

• Sands: ATK%
• Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus
• Circlet: CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG

For a sub-DPS/support Mavuika, equip the 4-piece Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set on her, with these main stats:

• Sands: ATK%
• Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus
• Circlet: CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG

Make sure to focus on ATK% and CRIT Rate/CRIT DMG substats while leveling up your artifact pieces.
