The Northern Nameless Mausoleum, despite being visible from the opening area of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, isn't accessible to you until you make a sizeable progress through the DLC's main story. Much like the base game, Shadow of the Erdtree is jam-packed with optional areas and dungeons that are completely missable on your first playthrough.

The Nameless Mausoleums are the prime example of these obscure and hidden optional locations in the Shadow Realm. There are a total of four Nameless Mausoleums across the Shadow Realm, each designated to certain warrior spirits.

While these dungeons are completely optional, finding and completing them rewards you with some really cool weapons and armor sets.

Here's a comprehensive guide on how to reach the Northern Nameless Mausoleum in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree and the rewards you get upon completing it.

Where to find the Northern Nameless Mausoleum in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?

The Nameless Mausoleums (not to be confused with the Roaming Mausoleums of the base game) are essentially shrines for spirits of long-lost warriors that were once heralded among denizens of the Shadow Realm for their strength. The Northern Nameless Mausoleum is dedicated to the spirit of the Red Bear, a fierce warrior who uses the Red Bear's Claw.

Reaching the Northern Nameless Mausoleum is arguably the trickiest out of all the Mausoluems in Shadow of the Erdtree, even more so than the Southern Nameless Mausoleum. Judging from the map, you would expect it to be accessible from the Gravesite Plains, west of the Castle Front Site of Grace.

That said, in order to reach the plateau housing the Northern Nameless Mausoleum, you will first have to make your way to Scadu Altus, which is accessible after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. Next, from Scadue Altus, you have to make your way to the east, toward the Moorth Ruins.

Once you reach the Moorth Ruins, you then need to head a bit to the east from there, until you reach a small ravine-like structure. Go across the ravine, and past the statue of Marika, and you will reach a poison swap. Keep to the left and exit the poison swap via the cavern to the west. Stepping out of the poison swamp, you will reach Rauh Ruins.

Go a little further until you reach the Ancient Ruins Base Site of Grace. From the Site of Grace, head to the southwest, and you will eventually reach a small area, ahead of the Temple Town Ruins, guarded by two Stone Golems. Past the Stone Golems, you will find a Spiritspring, which you can activate by using Mohg's or Margit's Shackles.

Use the Spritspring to scale the plateau to the left, and that will take you to the Northern Nameless Mausoleum. Heading inside the Mausoleum, you will have to battle it out against the Red Bear. Defeating the Red Bear rewards you with the Iron Rivet armor set, Fang Helm, and the Red Bear's Claws, one of the best Beast Claw weapons in Elden Ring.
