Valve has officially responded to the issue of bot and boosting lobbies in CS2. Bot lobbies refer to how some games become unplayable because too many non-human-controlled entities are in them.

A Reddit user called Japesthetank recently took to the forum to complain about being kicked out of the Retakes mode by bots who overpopulate the servers. The user had issues with bot farms, and thankfully, a Valve employee was quick to address the problems.

Here is exactly how to report and deal with the issue of bots and boosting lobbies in CS2.

Valve employee lays out instructions on how to report boosting lobbies in CS2

What do bot farms do in CS2? Essentially, these services make bot accounts that play the game to unlock keys and cases. As the CS2 community may know, just being active in the title often yields drops for clearing achievements and levels.

Boosting in CS2, on the other hand, is an issue where more experienced players play in smurf accounts to boost lower-ranked accounts. This is easy since low-ranked profiles will only be paired with other lower-ranking gamers who are easy to defeat for said smurfs. The same can be achieved by bots who boost an inactive account by simply playing the game while the user is away.

Valve employee u/DanB_VALVE responded to Japesthetank's Reddit post with detailed instructions. Here's how to deal with these issues.

  • Open your email application, this could be Gmail or something else.
  • Ensure the title of the email is "boosting report." This applies to problems related to both boosting and bot lobbies.
  • Now, the email body could have some text, but all you need are screenshots. While in-game, ensure you take screenshots of the bot lobbies or boosting issues you face.
  • Attach these screenshots to the email with the Attach option.
  • Next, provide the links to your account and the boosting profiles in the email.
  • To find profile links, you may go to Steam and click on the Friends tab on the top left. Now, you may see an option that says Recently Played With on the left side of your screen below your profile picture. Here, a list of all the players you've recently played with should appear.
  • Copy all the profiles you believe are boosting or are bots and provide those links in the email.
  • Now, send this email to cs2team at valvesoftware.com. The email address is not region-specific, so any player across the many regions can send an email here.

So, this is how one can report all the boosting lobbies in CS2 as well as issues with bot farms interrupting or blocking your games. Bots are an issue because they also give the game a false player count in CS2.

Once the email is sent, Valve will look into the issue and investigate it to take action. This is currently the most effective way of reporting problems related to lobbies in CS2.
