The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is here, bringing an all-new way to experience the cult-classic horror series from Capcom. Due to its sandbox nature and high difficulty curve, players will undoubtedly want to save as often as possible. As a remaster, the core systems of the third-person exploration game remain intact and familiar.

This includes how to record progress as players navigate the zombie-infested Willamette Mall. Here's everything players both new and old need to know to keep track of their progress before diving into the jaws of the ever-present zombie horde roaming the mall's hallways and corridors.

Returning fans will know exactly what to do, but newcomers pay attention: to save the game, there are two options: a green sofa and public restrooms. The former is available in the Security Room, the first area players will visit in the game after dropping down onto the mall's rooftop.

The public restrooms are, logically speaking, scattered all around the mall. Their locations are marked on the map via a yellow floppy disk icon. To be more specific, players must approach one of the several restroom stalls to be able to save in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster. In both cases, players only need to approach them after which a save option will pop up.

Players can save in multiple save slots, granting them greater control over their experience - which is important as this game is also heavily reliant on trial and error due to its time-sensitive gameplay mechanics.

Furthermore, Capcom has also included an Autosave system that triggers during key moments and transitions when moving between sandbox areas as well as the ability to fast-forward time at these save points.

Despite many improvements, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster remains a challenging experience, especially for newcomers. This quality-of-life addition, among more, makes this remaster of the beloved 2006 classic a step up over the original, ensuring a more refined and polished experience for players deciding to try out Capcom's other zombie horror franchise for the first time.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster was released on September 19, 2024, and is available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
