It is quite easy to surf in CS2. So how do you do it? It's simple; first, get on a map or a server. Then, surf down the ramps provided in the map. The surf game mode is different since it doesn't involve taking any frags. Success here has more to do with your sheer movement skills.
Ramps are structures in the mode that curve in downward and upward positions, allowing you to surf on them. The motion can be compared to being on a rollercoaster.
Without further ado, here's how to surf in CS2.

Surf in CS2: Join and learn

To surf in CS2, you must first determine whether you want to do it online with other players or by yourself offline.
Here's what you need to do if you want to surf online:
- Launch the game.
- Hit the Play tab.
- Click on the Community Server Browser icon. This will lead you to the many community servers online at the moment.
- Choose the internet tab once a pop-up window opens, taking you to a list of servers.
- Refresh the server twice and wait for servers to appear. Click on any server that begins with the name "surf_"
- Next, click on Connect. This should connect you to the online server.
- Return to the game. A window should pop up asking for you to confirm that you want to join the server.
- Click on 'Allow', and let the server download. Once the download is finished, you'll appear in the game's lobby. Now, you can surf with other online players.
Those who want to surf offline can use workshop maps instead of CS2 community servers. Follow these steps to do so:
- Open Workshop from either the Steam game profile or within the game.
- To do it within the game, go to Play>Workshop Maps>Visit Workshop. This will open up the Steam Workshop page.
- Go to the search bar visible on the right side of the screen and type "surf_"
- This will yet again showcase a list of surf workshop maps. Subscribe to a map of choice, and you'll see it in the game. Open it and play.
Now that you know how to get inside a map, the next question is how does one technically surf in CS2? It's simple. Use only the movement keys, but let go of 'W' and 'S' as they're not important and certainly not helpful.
The goal in surf maps is to maintain balance on the ramps by moving from side to side (since you get propelled forward automatically). Prioritize the 'A' and 'D' movement keys, and use the mouse to go up and down.
With enough practice, surfing should become easy. It will also help with strafing in Counter-Strike 2 since it follows a similar movement pattern.
