Stalker 2 takes place in a fictionalized version of the real-life Chernobyl Exclusion Zone where a deadly nuclear disaster occurred in 1986. The calamity has rendered the area uninhabitable for the next thousands of years due to the immense amounts of radiation poisoning in the air, water, and surrounding areas. The game's world aims to recreate these conditions as well in the in-game world.
Some areas of the map are incredibly unsafe even with protective gear, and radiation damage can prove to be a real deterrent to exploration of the map. Below are some ways to reduce the effects of, and survive radiation in the game.

Surviving radiation in Stalker 2
Exploration in a radioactive zone can inevitably lead to dangerous radiation effects wearing down the players' health, making gameplay a challenge. Keep listening to the noises your Geiger counter makes to alert you of the impending dangers of radiation, especially when entering an incredibly radioactive area.
When under the effects of radiation, consumables can greatly aid in helping get the situation under control. Consume alcohol, specifically Vodka, to reduce the effects of radiation. Alternatively, use anti-radiation items to help alleviate said effects. Note that some Artifacts that can be picked up from around the map can also be very radioactive.
One way to combat this is to pick up anti-radiation Artifacts, which provide players with "radio protection". These can help reduce or nullify the effects of radiation depending on their protection level and the intensity of the radioactive Artifact. One such item is the Slug found in the mission There and Back Again.
The best practice in this regard is to use radiation-protective gear, such as suits or helmets, that can block out certain amounts of radiation, and make exploring easier.
Pair the protective gear with radiation-blocking Artifacts to significantly reduce your character's likelihood of succumbing to radiation-related issues. Gear can often be found in Stashes, so keep a keen eye out for them.
