Marvel's Spider-Man 2's latest update comes with the ability for players to manually switch between the mechanized Spider Arms or the Symbiote tendrils. Although the Spider Arms are not always visible, they still add a lot to Peter's combat style and personality, as he goes up against some of the most vicious adversaries and anti-heroes.
Prior to the latest patch, the ability to swap between the Spider Arms and the Symbiote tendrils was only limited to the suits players choose to equip, and also story progression. However, following the update 1.003.000, players can freely swap between these Spider Arm types.
Here's a guide on how to easily swap between the Spider Arms and the Symbiote tendrils in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Step-by-step guide on how to toggle between Spider Arms and Symbiote tendrils in Marvel's Spider-Man 2
Much like the previously added features to swap the time of day as well as the tendril colors, the Spider Arm switching ability is accessible via the in-game "Gameplay" settings. However, there's a small catch to getting access to this feature in the game. You can only do so after completing the main story of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
The prerequisite to complete the main story is there since the Symbiote suit as well as the tendrils are tied to a very crucial part of the game's campaign. Getting access to these options early might hurt the immersion factor of the narrative, which is one of the most crucial factors of story-driven games like Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
That being said, here's how you can swap Spider Arms and Symbiote tendrils in Marvel's Spider-Man 2:
- Launch the game on your PlayStation 5, and load up a save where you have completed the main story.
- While free-roaming in the open world, head to options and then the Gameplay settings.
- Under the Gameplay settings, navigate to the Parry/Traversal Ability Swap option.
- Pick which option you want for Peter's Spider Arms and exit out from the gameplay settings.
- You will have to reload the last checkpoint for the changes to take effect.
Do note that the Spider Arm ability swap is only available for Peter's Spider suits, and not Miles. Although Miles also has Spider Arms in one of his suits, it's not used to parry attacks or give him a boost while traversing the map. Miles' Spider Arms appear only during certain finishers.
Additionally, it should be noted that if you're playing New Game+, you can access these settings right from the start of the story.
These gameplay and cosmetic modifiers are best used in the game's photomode. You could get some unique snapshots, such as using the Iron Spider suit with the Symbiote tendrils, or the Anti-Venom suit with the Iron Spider Arms.
