The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open-world action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game features a vast open-world environment, allowing players to explore and interact with the environment in a non-linear fashion. One of the unique features in Skyrim is the option for players to become a vampire. Vampirism in the game is a disease that can be contracted by being bitten by a vampire or by completing a quest.
What is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is set in the fictional province of Skyrim, which is located in the northernmost part of the continent of Tamriel. Players take on the role of a Dragonborn, a mortal born with the soul of a dragon, and must complete a variety of quests and challenges to save the province from destruction.
The game features a vast open-world environment, allowing players to explore and interact with the environment in a non-linear fashion. Players can also choose to join one of the game's factions, such as the Thieves Guild or the Companions, and complete quests to advance in rank. It was first released in 2011 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, and has since been re-released on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation VR.
What is Vampirism in Skyrim?
In Skyrim, players also have the option to become a vampire. If a vampire casts a draining spell on you, you will get Sanguinare Vampiris, Skyrim's vampire sickness. You can pray to the Nine Divines at a shrine to have this ailment removed, just like any other disease. Shrines are most easily found inside temples in major cities, and as long as you're quick enough, any of them will suffice. However, if you leave it untreated for three days, you will turn into a complete vampire.
Once the player becomes a vampire, they will be able to drain the blood from NPCs and gain new abilities like night vision, increased resistance to frost, and improved agility. However, the player will also have to cope with some weaknesses such as being weak to sunlight and garlic, and will have to feed on NPCs to survive. Skyrim vampirism has four severity levels that rise the longer you go without consuming blood.
Taking a sip from a napping human's neck can keep your curse at bay, but if someone discovers you chowing down, you will be rewarded with a bounty on your head. You can't pay off these bounties with money or jail time, so you're stuck with it for good. Mortals can identify you easily in stage four of vampirism and often flee or attack you on sight.
How to cure vampirism in Skyrim?
If you got Sanguinare Vampiris while battling a vampire and it hasn't been three days, there's still hope for you. This is due to the fact that you can remedy it by doing one of the following:
Make use of a 'treat sickness' potion.
By worshiping at (activating) a shrine, you can receive a blessing.
Hawk feathers should be consumed.
However, if your vampirism is fully active, either because you left it for more than three in-game days after getting Sanguinare Vampiris, or because you were infected by Lord Harkon or Skyrim Serana, healing yourself becomes more difficult. Following these instructions, however, will have you free of your blood-sucking impulses in no time.
Approach any innkeeper or Dawnguard member.
Inquire with them if they've heard any rumors about starting the 'Rising at Dawn' quest.
Go to Morthal and look for Falion the wizard (on the east side of the river, next to the water). Fill one black soul gem with a magnificent soul as he advises.
To fill a black soul gem, you must capture the soul of a huge, sentient creature, such as another player race's character. If this is too difficult or time-consuming, Falion sells ritual-ready black soul gems.
Return the complete black soul gem to Falion to begin the ritual. Take Falion to the nearby summoning stones and stand in the center.
You've been cured.
FAQs
Q. What potion cures vampirism in Skyrim?
A. All you have to do is find and drink a cure-all potion. This potion may be found in most shops around Skyrim. These potions can also be stolen from alchemists or purchased from alchemy shops. This, however, is only effective if you are in the first three phases of vampirism.
Q. Does Serana cure her vampirism?
A. After completing the Dawnguard DLC, Serana can be cured of her vampirism. You can bring Serana to Falion, who lives in Morthal, and he will perform a ritual to cure her vampirism; you can even do this for your character if you want to cure your own vampirism.
