Pokemon Go has been steadily adding new Pokemon from the console games since its release, but it still hasn’t caught up. Especially with new regions releasing on the Nintendo Switch, Pokemon Go has a lot of Pokemon to still add. One of the more anticipated additions are not only the Fairy type Pokemon, but especially the fairy type ‘Eevee-lution’ Sylveon. May of 2021 will mark the beginning of the fairy type event in Pokemon Go the ‘Fairy Type Challenge,’ which will be the debut of our favorite frilly ‘Eevee-lution’ Sylveon.
About Sylveon
Sylveon is a fairy-type Pokemon that was originally introduced in the Pokemon games Gold and Silver. This affectionate Pokemon is a complete trump card to dragon types with its large array of fairy-type moves. It has many resistances as well but is weak to poison and steel-type moves.
It is currently unknown if Sylveon can spawn in the wild. The only known way to obtain it currently is to evolve it from an Eevee.
About the Fairy Type Challenge
This challenge is a collective effort over the worldwide Pokemon Go community. Throughout the entire month of May, the number of fairy types caught by players will be tracked worldwide and once that number reaches 500 million, players will begin to receive special bonus gifts.
The progress cannot be tracked in-game but is documented on the official Pokemon Go Twitter account. As of the writing of this article, players are over halfway to this huge catching milestone.
With the emphasis on Fairy-type Pokemon and Sylveon’s silhouette appearing in-game in the most recent updates, it's all but confirmed that Sylveon will be added in this May event.
How to Get Sylveon in Pokemon Go
In a Nutshell:
Farm for at least 25 Eevee candy, then give the candy to an Eevee named ‘Kira.’ It will then evolve into Sylveon once it is released.
While details on Sylveon’s exact evolution details aren’t public yet, there are clear indications on how to obtain the pink Pokemon. Naming an Eevee ‘Kira’ and having 25 Eevee candy will display Sylveon’s silhouette on the Evolve button. This indicates that the requirement to get a Sylveon may only be 25 Eevee candy. Though upon actually being added to the game, these requirements may change, make sure you have at least an Eevee named ‘Kira’ and 25 Eevee candy to be ready for it when Sylveon drops.
Step by Step Guide on How to Get Sylveon in Pokemon Go
Step 1: Catch multiple Eevee until you have at least 25 Eevee Candy. You can transfer some Eevee to Professor Willow for extra Candy but make sure to keep at least one for evolving.
Step 2: Give your 25 Eevee Candy to an Eevee named ‘Kira.’
Sylveon’s Moves
Even though they aren’t officially in the game, Sylveon’s data is in the games files, including information on its stats and moveset.

Trivia
Sylveon is the only Eeveelution to be introduced in a generation that did not introduce any other Eeveelutions.
Sylveon is also the only Eeveelution to not resist its own type.
If Eevee meets the conditions for evolving into Sylveon while also meeting the conditions for evolving into Espeon or Umbreon, Eevee will evolve into Sylveon regardless.
Conclusion
Sylveon is not only a cute Pokemon but a useful one too. It has a threatening moveset, especially when facing dragon types. Charm is an especially powerful Fast Move and if the requirements to obtain Sylveon stay the same on release, obtaining this Pokemon should be a breeze.
