How to Purify Equipment in Metaphor ReFantazio

Metaphor ReFantazio's campaign takes players on a journey across the vastness of the United Kingdom of Euchronia and has the protagonist interact with the many enemies, friends and dungeons. It is a JRPG, much like creators Sega and Atlus' other incredibly popular franchise, Persona.

Within the game, it is possible for players to interact with and pick up equipment that can be used in combat. However, there is a possibility that the equipment can be impure in nature. These impure pieces of equipment can be purified to unleash their full potential, and here is a guide on how to do so.

Purifying equipment in Metaphor ReFantazio

Weapons and equipment that may be impure can be purified by visiting any church in any town across the map. One of the earliest churches players can visit to initiate the procedure is the St. Fermis Church, located in Grand Trad. However, simply showing up at the church's doorstep empty-handed will not result in the equipment being purified.

Increase the character's Wisdom stat to at least Level 2 (Image via Sega)

Players will need to raise the protagonist's Wisdom Royal Virtue to Level two, which is called Informed. Additionally, some Blessed Water has to be collected as well, which can be found within various dungeons across the map. Though not a scarce resource, you will not come by Blessed Water without spending some time searching for it, so it is best to use it wisely.

Once the above criteria have been met, head over to any church, and the "Purify" prompt will show up. Do note that purifying also costs some in-game money, in addition to using the Blessed Water. Every piece of equipment that can be purified will have the effects applied permanently, so choose the equipment to upgrade wisely.

Purifying a weapon can help upgrade its stats. For instance, the early-game weapon Dragon's Indignation can be purified at a Church, and doing so will not just improve its attack strength but also turn all normal attacks into Fire attacks.
