To unlock the Merchant Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio, first recruit Brigitta, the Igniter Merchantess, as a follower. You can start her recruitment process in Grand Trad, the royal capital, where you first meet her. Before starting her questline, reach Wisdom Level 2. One easy way to earn Wisdom points is by using the "View of The Royal Capital," which can be accessed by sitting on a bench near Brigitta's shop.

However, if sitting on a bench is too easy for you, complete the quest "Help the Hushed Honeybee," which involves helping out at a local inn for a night. After completing this quest, you'll gain enough Wisdom points to rank up to Level 2, making you eligible to start Brigitta’s quest.

Once you reach Wisdom Level 2, Brigitta will offer you the quest "A Bullish Embargo." This quest involves traveling to a nearby dungeon, where you must fight your way through enemies to defeat the boss, Grotesque Guptauros. After defeating the Guptauros, return to Brigitta the next day, and she will reward you for completing the quest.

At this point, Brigitta will join you as a follower, and you will unlock the Merchant Archetype. With the Merchant Archetype unlocked, focus on leveling it up. The Merchant is an Archetype that can deal Almighty Damage through its main skill, Reeve. This skill allows you to spend money to deal significant damage.

Try to reach Rank 5 of the Merchant Archetype as soon as possible to unlock the “Guild Discount” perk. This perk lowers the price of weapons and other items in the igniter shops. To quickly level up the Merchant Archetype in Metaphor ReFantazio you can use items like Hero’s Incense and Hero’s Fruit. These items directly grant experience points to a chosen Archetype and are often rewards from quests.

Another effective way to level up the Merchant Archetype in Metaphor ReFantazio is overworld combat in dungeons. Many dungeons feature respawnable enemies who can be killed without engaging in full Squad Combat, allowing for repeated grinding to gain XP.
