Multiplayer in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 does not automatically unlock when you boot up the game. Like all things in the grimdark, it has to be earned through sweat, blood, and service to the God Emperor. While this might seem rather odd, it's a good thing.

The developers at Focus have ensured that you know the basics of purging Xenos before you fight alongside and against other Space Marines. Since there will be many newcomers to the 40k franchise, it's best to take things in slowly, rather than being tossed out of Thunderhawk and being surrounded by foes on all fronts.

To unlock the multiplayer in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2, all you have to do is complete the tutorial. This could be frustrating if you are into PvP, but it's probably the best. Knowing how to play as Demetrian Titus and using the weapons/abilities at your disposal is a must if you intend on killing Tyranids

That said, once you start a new game, complete the tutorial and report to Captain Sevastus Acheran. He is currently Captain of the Ultramarines 2nd Company and Master of the Watch. After interacting with him, you will receive your first mission briefing to go to Kadaku.

Congratulations, you now have unlocked multiplayer in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2. From here on out, you will be able to invite other player-controlled Adeptus Astartes to your game to aid you in purging Xenos. Alternatively, you will be able to join others in battle and even fight in the PVP mode called Eternal War.

How to invite players to multiplayer in Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2

As mentioned, you can invite friends to help purge Xenos. To do this, click on the "edit squad" button prompt. It will be in the top-right corner of the screen. You can invite two other players to join you in battle.

Use a generated code for crossplay in Space Marine 2 to invite a friend from a different platform. For friends on the same platform, simply invite them to your session.
