Marvel Strike Force, over its six-year-long history, has introduced new characters through various means, including event campaigns, Blitzes, web milestones, and month-long events. In an effort to refine and improve the character release process, the developers update how traditional characters (excluding Mythic, Epic, or Legendary) are unlocked. This new approach focuses on rewarding daily engagement, ensuring players can unlock new characters in a timely manner.
This article highlights the entire process confirmed by the developers of Marvel Strike Force.

The revamped character release format is called the "Path-To" event. This is the first phase of unlocking a new character and encourages players to engage with the game daily across different modes. Each Path-To event offers the chance to unlock a new character by accumulating character shards through regular play.
During Phase 1, players can expect:
- Daily engagement: Players earn shards through gameplay across various modes.
- Milestone rewards: While the milestones may not always follow traditional formats, they will contribute to shard collection.
- Surprises: There may be unexpected ways to earn additional rewards throughout the event.
The idea behind Phase 1 is to ensure that players, even those starting from day one, have an opportunity to unlock the new character by simply playing the game regularly.
Once Phase 1 concludes, Phase 2 begins. This phase is all about powering up the newly unlocked character and progressing. Shards for these characters will be available through a variety of methods, including:
- Events
- Battle Pass/Strike Pass
- Milestones
The exact details of how to earn shards during Phase 2 may vary, but it provides players with more opportunities to strengthen their new character or even finish unlocking it if they didn’t complete the process in Phase 1.
Additional character accessibility in Marvel Strike Force
In addition to the Phase 1 and 2 events, the developers will ensure at least one character is made more accessible within 30 days of the initial release. This will likely come in the form of character shards available through milestones or other engagement-based events. The goal is to give all players ample chances to unlock and power up new characters without feeling left behind.
The Marvel Strike Force team has also confirmed the monitoring of Path-To events, starting with the Orchis team release. They also stated that future character releases might undergo some changes based on the community's feedback.
