You can follow these steps to unlock the Way of the Flame mythic technique in Ghost of Tsushima:
Step 1: Find the musician
Like every Mythic Tale, the first thing you need to do is meet the musician. You can find the musician southwest of Mount Jogaku for the Undying Flame Mythic Tale. This rests in the region of Kamiagata.
Step 2: Climb Mount Jogaku
While participating in this Mythic Tale, you will encounter a new mechanic: Jin's susceptibility to weather conditions. While climbing Mount Jogaku, Jin must be close to a fire or the freezing mechanic will deplete his health rapidly.
There are six campsites along your climb over Mount Jogaku. These will let Jin warm himself:
- Fire #1: The first campsite can be found to the north of the musician you just met. You will have to climb a cliff to find the fire.
- Fire #2: The second campsite can be found across the bridge that lies in front of the rocks.
- Fire #3: This campsite will be on a distant cliff. You must use your grappling hook to take yourself there.
- Fire #4: If you continue your journey along the path to the left of the campsite, you will reach the last cliff in this journey. Climbing it will reveal the next campsite
- Fire #5: There will be another path to the left of the camp. Follow this and climb over the mountain. You will find the campsite where you must light the fire to warm yourself.
- Fire #6: Follow the track and run forward till you come across a tightrope. Walk across and climb over the mountain to find the last campsite. Light the fire and warm Jin.
Step 3: Find the dojo and meet Bettomaru
Once Jin is done warming himself at the sixth campsite, make your way to the top of the mountain. You must then turn right and cross the gap. Make your way over the rocks till you see some lanterns. Move forward till you reach the dojo.
Here, you will come across Bettomaru and he will tell you how to set your sword on fire. This is the last boss fight as far as Mythic Tales are concerned and the last obstacle separating you and the Way of the Flame mythic technique in Ghost of Tsushima.
Step 4: Defeat Bettomaru in the boss fight
It is advisable to switch to an armor that offers damage reduction as a perk. You must parry this boss' attacks and then dodge the attacks marked in red to avoid taking critical damage.
You will see that Bettomaru will light his sword on fire from time to time. This move will turn most of his attacks into red ones. So, be careful to not get hit by the boss during this phase of the battle.
When Bettomaru's health reaches about one-third, he will give you Incendiary Oil using which you can light your sword on fire and burn your enemies on the battlefield.
Step 5: Return to the musician
After you get the Incendiary Oil, make your way back to the musician and that will conclude the quest. This will reward you with the Way of the Flame mythic technique in Ghost of Tsushima along with Izanami's Grief Sheath.
