Gateway in The Finals remains one of the game's most underrated gadgets, primarily because most of the player base is unaware of how to use it. The light class has a lot of useful gadgets in its arsenal that let you deal direct damage (like the nades) or get an edge in a fight (like the stun gun or glitch grenade). While the Gateway might seem lacking compared to these, it has immense potential when it comes to repositioning, defending, or even stealing vaults.
This article will discuss how the Gateway in the Finals works and how you can use it effectively in a game.

The Gateway in The Finals is a portal device with two parts, and you can drop each part separately as points A and B of the portal. After you drop the first part, you can travel a distance of up to 70 meters before dropping the other. The portal now becomes active offering you instantaneous teleportation between the two points for 20 seconds.
One important factor to consider while using the Gateway is that once you place Point A, it stays active indefinitely unless you travel more than 70 meters away from it, in which case it disappears. The 20-second counter starts only after both points are placed.
Now that you know the basics of the Gateway in The Finals, let's take a look at different ways to use it effectively in the game.

Tips to use the Gateway in The Finals
The Gateway in The Finals is a unique device offering creative and imaginative outplays in The Finals. Mastering the Gateway requires extensive game knowledge and map awareness. However, certain proven ways make the Gateway extremely powerful in The Finals.
1) Bait enemies into taking your Gateway
The Gateway can be taken by both teammates and enemies after activation. You can use this to bait enemy players into following you to an unfavorable location. You can have your teammates be ready to shoot them down or even use mines to demolish them right after they teleport in.
Another strategy you can use is the Chimney strat, where you bait enemies to teleport into the chimney of a building where they'll get stuck and you'll get an easy kill with explosives. Check out 10 best tips and tricks for The Finals Season 3 for more creative outplay strategies.
3) Steal Vaults with the Gateway
The Gateway lets you teleport all objects that you can grab, including vaults. To do this, toss the Gateway right on the vault and activate it. Run towards the cashout but make sure to be within the 70 meters range. Toss the other end of the portal right before the vault is about to open and it instantly teleports it to your location.
This lets you cashout much quicker than the other teams, which gives you additional time to steal the enemy cashout after completing your own.

4) Safety Gateways
Place the first Gateway in a safe location before engaging in a fight. If you take significant damage in the fight and need to fall back, just toss the other end of the portal to teleport back to your safe spot. Having your safe spot at a higher location helps, as you can still do damage if you have a direct line of sight.
5) Defending Cashout
For this, place the first end of the gateway one floor above the cashout or somewhere with cover and a direct line of sight to the cashout. This lets you traverse around to contest enemies in other places, and as soon as you hear the steal taking place, toss your gateway and teleport back to the cashout to defend it. You can use the stun gun or grenades to stop the cashout effectively.
6) Engage as a team
This method is effective to instantly kill an enemy team if you have a heavy in your team. To pull this off, place the first point of the Gateway near your team. Travel to the enemy team and toss the other Gateway on top of the enemy team. This lets your heavy teammate drop and slam, dealing significant damage and eventually killing the entire opposing team.
