Perfect Dodge is the most powerful tool in your arsenal in Black Myth Wukong. However, to actually master it, you will first need to know how it works and how you can use it to its maximum effectiveness during combat. Perfect Dodge is a default skill you have access to from the get-go, but there are also additional upgrades that further enhance it.

Black Myth Wukong's Perfect Dodge is pretty much similar to how deflecting works in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. However, the biggest distinction between the two, apart from the animations, is the timing. Deflecting in Sekiro also has plenty of buffer, something that's entirely missing from the new RPG's dodge system.

Despite that, knowing how to time your dodges and convert them into Perfect Dodges isn't all that tricky.

Here's a comprehensive guide to using Perfect Dodges in Black Myth Wukong.

Tips for Perfect Dodges in Black Myth Wukong

Black Myth Wukong, much like Nioh and other similar action RPGs, uses the face buttons as action inputs instead of the shoulder buttons. This is mostly done since the game's combat system isn't nearly as deliberate and methodical as the souls-like titles. Instead, it's incredibly fast-paced and relies heavily on combos and dodges.

Your primary input for dodge is the B button on the Xbox controller or the Circle button on the PlayStation controller. While you can chain dodges, there's no buffer between consecutive animations. As such, you will have to be careful when you initiate a dodge.

Additionally, there's also no dodge cancel, meaning once you start a dodge, you're committed to that animation and cannot cancel it midway through. You can only string three dodges at any given time. The fourth dodge will always require you to wait for Stamina to regenerate. This is somewhat similar to how dodging works in Horizon Forbidden West.

You can do a fourth dodge immediately after the third, but it will be significantly slow, consume more Stamina, and will have fewer i-frames (invincibility frames). As for the dodge timing for Perfect Dodge, you would want to time your button press just before an attack is about to hit you.

Think of the dodge more like a deflection or parry system. You don't want to panic dodge or spam the dodge button. Instead, kite the enemy and only dodge when you see them coming towards you.

I highly recommend pressing the dodge button twice, just in case the first dodge is done a bit earlier. Perfect Dodge is a bit tricky to nail, but it isn't all that difficult.
