The photo mode has become a staple of most modern AAA games and even some indie titles over the years, and The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is no stranger to it. However, accessing it in the newly released game isn't as simple as choosing the option from the menu or pressing a designated combination of buttons.
Similar to how the photo mode worked in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, you must first unlock access to the camera tool in order to start capturing the breathtaking scenery of Hyrule or silly selfies of Link. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to access and use the photo mode in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Complete "Camera Work in the Depths" questline to access photo mode in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
To get access to the camera tool, you first need to speak to Purah and start the optional "Camera Work in the Depths" questline. Once you initiate the quest, all you have to do is head down into the Depths, which is a massive zone separate from Hyrule, but accessible through the Hyrule Field Chasm, which is to the south of Purah's laboratory.

To head down into the Depths, you must simply jump into the chasm and use your paraglider to safely land. As soon as you reach the surface of the Depths, activate the massive Lightroot and speak to the researcher nearby. The researcher will inform you that Robbie, who you need to find in order to complete this quest, has delved deeper into the Depths.
You should next head to the west and activate the Layusus Lightroot there to find Robbie and speak to him. Interacting with Robbie will automatically unlock the camera tool on your Purah Pad and allow you to take pictures whenever you want. The camera tool also comes really handy in scanning new enemies.
To start clicking pictures using the photo mode in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, all you need to do is select the camera tool from the Purah Pad, and press "A" to take a shot. You can save these pictures on your console by pressing the "Screenshot/Share" button on the left JoyCon. To take a selfie, press "X" while the camera tool is active.
You can also make Link pose during selfies by nudging the left analog stick and holding "ZL" to switch between different positions.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
