Ghost of Tsushima on PC is the first title to feature the PlayStation Overlay, bridging the gap between PS5 and PC as a platform. This feature allows players to earn trophies or carry over their trophy progress from the game's PS5 version to the newly released PC version. You can also access your PlayStation friends list on PC and even initiate a co-op session with them in Legends.
The PlayStation Overlay feels like Xbox's UWP (Universal Windows Platform) system allowing players to continue their progress in games that they own on both Xbox and PC. However, there's a limitation to the PlayStation Overlay compared to Xbox's iteration of the system - you cannot carry over your PS4/PS5 progress to PC.
Fortunately, a Steam user has found a rather easy way to transfer the PS4 progress to PC. Here's how you can potentially use your PS4 save on the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima.

A step-by-step guide to transfer your PS4 save to Ghost of Tsushima PC
The credits for this guide go to Steam user Pakundo, who mentioned a detailed step-by-step process for how to transfer, decrypt, and use the PS4 saves for Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut on PC. The process seems fairly simple and has only a handful of prerequisites, which shouldn't be much of a hassle if you've already played the game on PS4 and haven't deleted the saves.
Do note that there's a mod on Nexusmods that allows you to grab a New Game++ ready save, which comes with all the upgrades, weapons, and skills unlocked. However, if you want to use your save file from the game's PS4 version, you need to do more than just simply download a mod.
Here are the steps to get your PS4 save on the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima:
Get your PS4 save using a USB drive
- The first thing you need to do is to get your PS4 save file for the game to your PC. For this, you can use a USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the console and copy your save from your PS4 to it.
- To copy your save to a USB drive, simply head to Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage > Copy to USB Storage Device.
Decrypt the PS4 save
- This step is a bit complicated. You essentially need to first join a Discord server called new-save-bot!, which helps decrypt the PS4 save to be used on PC. You will need to join the channel called "ps4-save-bot-4-htos-2" to decrypt your files.
- Once you decrypt the saves, simply unpack them using 7zip or WinRAR to get the necessary files.
Copy the decrypted save file
- The next big step is to copy the save file from the newly decrypted folder over to Ghost of Tsushima's save directory on PC. Do note that before you move and replace your current saves, make sure to rename the decrypted saves as manual_0000.sav. Additionally, make sure you have Steam set to offline and cloud save synchronization is off.
- Saves for the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima is located in Documents\Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT\76561198002039947.
Once the final step is done, simply boot the game up, and head to Load Game. In Load Game, choose the save that you just renamed (manual_0000.sav) to continue your PS4 save on PC. Do note that modifying saves this way will result in you losing your current progress in the game, as it gets overwritten by the newly created PS4 save file.
