EA has added several hidden buffs, nerfs, and major bug fixes to Apex Legends Season 21. In a Battle Royale, Arena shooter where the meta is constantly evolving, several players, including professionals, haven't been able to tolerate a broken ranked system.

Numerous professionals have been vocal about this issue and urged EA to fix it from its roots. In one such X post, Team Falcon’s ImperialHal talked about the lackluster ranked system. Moreover, he mentioned how players have become less competitive in ranked and the gameplay caters towards casuals.

ImperialHal suggested EA bring in a more competitive system like Cash Cups, and a handful of others from Apex Legends' esports scene. Meanwhile, he also pointed out how the game has hit the lowest player count since its release on Steam two years ago.

In reply, 100 Thieves’ content creator and streamer NiceWigg praised the effort ImperialHal has made by addressing such severe issues on the official forum. He also mentioned that he lost hope about this a couple of seasons ago, commenting:

Another Apex Legends enthusiast, @JeremyBrace, explained that it has always been the case for different competitive games. The developers don’t get how much of an impact the competitive scene makes in a player’s mind alongside the overall industry. As an example, they mentioned Counter-Strike.

He sarcastically mentioned how EA might have laid off all the good developers during COVID-19, due to which the game’s current version is suffering from several problems. @JeremyBrace mentioned:

"It’s always a been a thing across games. Devs don’t understand how important the competitive scene is. Especially for longevity of games.. CS.. cough cough. Respawn is also a bit too woke."

The user went on to say:

"Pretty sure they ran off all the devs with logic during the covid debacle. It’s what the player base is suffering. They don’t take care of necessities, but they’re forced too now since player base is falling off"

Another content creator for SoaR Gaming, @draynilla, has agreed with Imperial and also added some of his own thoughts. He complained about the game not having anything to grind for.

As a solution, he suggested EA add more creative LTM (Limited-time Mode) and community-based content and rewards rather than providing a plethora of skins and map reworks in Apex Legends. @draynilla mentioned:

"Not only that but theres nothing even to grind for in the game outside of ranked. feel like im just working towards nothing if I dont play ranked. would love to see some creative LTM's, like you said cash cups, & more community based stuff rather than just skins & map updates."

One fan, @Numberious, mentioned how they haven’t touched the game for a long time, having lost motivation due to the broken and monotonous ranked system.

One Apex Legends connoisseur, @fadedfeedback, gave some decent solutions to resolve the broken ranked system, alongside the massive surge in the number of cheaters in Apex Legends.

They explained EA should listen to other professionals’ feedback and fix the system as soon as possible. On the other hand, giving a lifetime ban to players who get caught cheating is the only possible way to fix the cheating issue. @fadedfeedback mentioned:

"Apex devs could revive the game in one season by doing two things: 1. listen to the pros on QoL critiques; pandering to casuals is the fastest way to kill the game. 2. go six-knuckles-deep on investing into anti-cheat systems, with lifetime bans for anyone caught."

Lastly, a fan named @PapiHomer explained how the game is on the verge of dying. Most players, especially those residing in high-elo, are already frustrated with the ongoing system. The only thing they are excited about is the professional matches.

However, after watching Legends like Bloodhound, Crypto, Seer, and Fuse, and how players exploit their abilities constantly, they have lost hope about the game’s future unless the developers do something about it.

ImperialHal opens up about Apex Legends' broken ranked system

As mentioned, ImperialHal opened up about Apex Legends' current ranked system and urged EA to fix this by implementing a plethora of creative things. In one of his recent streams, he addressed the issue and complained about how his teammates can't inflict sufficient damage and pick the wrong characters, making a bad team composition.

Players are getting attracted to the casual aspect of the game rather than being competitive in the ranked mode. Several professionals have expressed their thoughts on fixing this matter, while others have lost hope.

Meanwhile, EA can actually fix these issues by implementing more LTMs, adjusting the skill-based matchmaking system, taking a deep dive into anti-cheat policy, and implementing a few in-game tournaments like Cash Cup. Through these, Apex developers can keep their player base intact by making the game more interesting.
