The Apex Legends blog recently updated with a new announcement that will completely change the Battle Pass system. This has caused a massive uproar in the community as a massive percentage of players express their concern over the skyrocketing price tags. “I really love playing the game. Amazing feel movement and gunplay. BUT!!! I cannot support that kind of greed. There are plenty other games that have a BP which is rebuyable by playinjg. It is very important of us as a playerbase to set a statement RIGHT NOW! Otherwise other companies might see that they can get trough with such **. We gotta IMMEDIATLY drop the player number and refrain from doing ANY ingame purchases. SInce money is all EA cares about we gotta hit them there. Please spread word about this we gotta stand strong as ONE community.”
The post gained a lot of attention and the community quickly filled in the comments section with a similar dissatisfaction about the Season 22 Battle Pass (BP) changes. Players suggested this could be the game killer that takes down EA’s popular battle royale title. Others chimed in and stated that this doubles the amount of money one would need to spend as the BP would need to be purchased twice in a single season.

Another player shared their opinion about buying various skins and battle passes as a way to support the developers trying to make the game better. However, the publisher hasn't fixed any of the existing issues, it is demoralizing to adopt a route to increase their profit source instead of polishing the gameplay experience.

Hydrangeabed posted a logical perspective that could explain the community’s outrage over the newly announced changes. The increase in prices or the flooding of cosmetics may not be the issue. But to bring in these changes when Apex Legends needs to address pre-existing issues like increasing cheaters, server problems, and audio improvements is not justifiable.
Others shared a similar sentiment and commented that EA’s announcement potentially marks the end for them to play the game entirely. However, if the community stands against this, the developers could take note and scrap the entire idea instead of implementing it in the next seasonal update.
Will the upcoming Apex Legends Battle Pass changes in Season 22 negatively affect the player base?
The inclusion of two battle passes in a single season (one for each split) would definitely increase the amount of gameplay content. However, these are all likely to be cosmetics while the player base has requested new modes and maps.

Fortunately, the game remains free-to-play and players can refrain from purchasing any of the battle passes and enjoy the free rewards. It is possible to collect double the amount of Apex Coins from the free battle pass as well, which could help players buy their preferred skins from the store or collection events. Therefore, it might increase the accessibility to cosmetics but take a major hit on the player count.
