1) Disable/ Enable Steam input

Steam input is often the reason behind controller-related troubles while playing on a PC. To resolve this, follow these steps:

  • Launch the Steam application on your PC.
  • Click on Steam on the top left of the app’s UI.
  • Under Steam, head to the Controller settings.
  • Scroll down and locate the Steam Input option.
  • Disable Steam Input by unchecking the box in front of the option.

If Steam input was disabled by default, try enabling it once to check if the problem persists.

2) Update controller drivers

Another step that many PC gamers tend to skip is updating their controller's firmware. Ensure that your controller is up to date. Xbox controllers can be directly updated using the Xbox Accessories App. If you are using a DualSense controller, you can update the controller from the PlayStation DualSense Firmware Updater app.

3) Ensure that the game is in your Steam library

If you purchased the game from another app like GOG, you need to add it to your Steam Library to enjoy full controller support (especially if you are using DualSense or a third-party controller). To do this, follow these steps:

  • Open Steam and go to "Games."
  • Select the "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library" option.
  • Navigate through your files and select the game's .exe file.
  • Go to the game's "Properties" and enable Steam input.
