Lost in the Past fieldwork in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is one of the optional missions that you can complete in the Sukhonthai region. While the first half of this fieldwork is pretty straightforward, after you initiate your dream loop in the second half, things can become pretty complex if you don’t know what you are doing.

How to start and solve the Lost in the Past fieldwork in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

To start the Lost in the Past fieldwork, speak to Uncle Sunan, who will guide you toward the ancient temple in Wat Sa Si. It is in the western region of Sukhothai. Inside the temple, you can find the Prayer Wheel puzzle, which is the main puzzle of the mission.

After receiving instructions from Uncle Sunan, head to Wat Sa Si using the map. Once you are at the temple, go downstairs. You can find the cave leading to the Prayer Wheel by breaking the weak wall with a hammer.

The dream loop

Interacting with the Prayer Wheel triggers a hallucination, thrusting Indiana Jones into a dream sequence at Marshall College. In this loop, you must explore the campus and interact with all NPCs and objects to progress. The dream will guide you through several events and areas where you’ll uncover three key symbols needed to solve the Prayer Wheel puzzle.

• Symbol 1 (Heh-zam-eesh): After leaving your office, enter the first open door. Inside, arrange the statues on the table. Once this is done, a symbol will appear on the blackboard. Click a picture of it.
• Symbol 2 (Gira 'ahn-matu): Speak to Nawal and enter the doorway that opens. Answer the phone, then lift the hat to find a note with the second symbol.
• Symbol 3 (Heh’k-dashu): During the dream, collect the Roman numeral “X” and use it to open a specific door. Inside, you’ll find the third symbol on the wall. Take a photo of it.

After collecting all three symbols, the dream sequence initiates a dramatic chase where you must retrieve your hat and escape a blind giant to wake up and return to the real world.

Solving the Prayer Wheel puzzle

Once back at the Prayer Wheel, use the symbols you discovered in the dream to align the discs correctly. The Prayer Wheel consists of three stone discs, each with various Adamic symbols. The objective is to align the symbols for “exodus,” “temple,” and “rebirth” under the white line at the top of the wheel.

Follow these steps to solve the puzzle:

1. Rotate the top disc to the right once.
2. Rotate the middle disc to the left twice.
3. Rotate the bottom disc to the left once.

When correctly aligned, the discs will descend into the wheel’s base, revealing the Golden Hook that you can now collect. With the Golden Hook in hand, return to Uncle Sunan to complete the Lost in the Past quest. Delivering the treasure ends the fieldwork and unlocks the Lost in the Past achievement in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
