Resident Evil 4 is not just one of the best games in the Resident Evil franchise, but also one of the best action horror titles of all time. Some of the game's critical praise can be attributed to its colorful array of characters. The series has established several famous characters over the course of its run, which is an increasingly perplexing accomplishment the further one thinks about it. And few characters in Resident Evil 4 leave as strong an impression as Ada Wong.
She repeatedly saves protagonist Leon Kennedy, yet despite her valor, it's unclear where her true allegiance lay.
Who is Ada Wong in Resident Evil 4?
Ada Wong is a fictional character in the Resident Evil video game series. She first featured as a minor character in Resident Evil 2 and then played a big role in Resident Evil 4. Her part in in Resident Evil 2 sees her have many confrontations with then-rookie police detective Leon S. Kennedy while working with franchise villain Albert Wesker, a former scientist at Umbrella Corporation, to obtain various Umbrella-created virus samples for the organization.
Wong is a mysterious and beautiful woman who frequently works as a spy or covert operative, with mixed loyalties and motivations. Even her name, "Ada Wong" is only an alias she employs to conceal her genuine identity. Her only actual loyalty, as far as anybody knows, is to a group known as "the organization," which is implied to be a rival organization of Resident Evil's big-bad monster-creating pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation.
Wong is an expert in warfare and espionage, employing a wide range of weapons and technologies to complete her missions. She is also exceedingly smart and resourceful, adept at outfoxing her opponents and maneuvering tricky problems. Throughout the game, she gives Leon useful information and aid while keeping her own goals disguised.
What is Ada Wong’s mission in Resident Evil 4?
On the surface, Ada's objective in Resident Evil 4 is similar: she is assigned to steal samples of the strange Las Plagas parasite from a secluded village in Spain, under the guidance of Wesker (now a member of the organization himself). She had no idea she'd run across Leon again, now a government agent actively working for the president of the United States.
Leon was looking for Ashley, the president's daughter, who had been abducted by a cult known as Los Illuminados. Wesker assigns Ada the responsibility of assassinating Leon, considering him to be a distraction that could jeopardize Ada's objective. Ada, for reasons unknown to her, begins to avoid Leon. Wesker eventually decides to utilize Leon as a tool instead, allowing him to continue running amok amongst Los Illuminados and providing Ada more chances to succeed in her original mission.
Has Ada Wong’s voice actor been changed for Resident Evil 4 remake?
So far, there have been multiple Resident Evil remakes, along with the upcoming Resident Evil 4, yet nearly none of the fan-favorite characters have survived unmodified. The remakes have done more than simply make the games appear better, with new hairstyles and more current attire to complete character revamps. Since the Resident Evil 4 remake was revealed in 2022, players have spotted various modifications, notably with regard to its characters.
Ada Wong, on the other hand, has had several voice actors over the years with Sally Cahill (RE2, RE4, DC), Megan Hollingshead (UC), Courtenay Taylor (ORC, RE6, Damnation, TEPPEN), and Shannon Chan Kent (Puzzle Fighter) voicing her. However, Jolene Andersen provided the English language version of Ada in 2019's Resident Evil 2.
Thus, it came as a surprise when reports began to circulate that she would not be appearing alongside her character in Resident Evil 4. While the full Resident Evil 4 cast has yet to be announced, gamers do know that Lily Gao will replace Andersen as Ada in the future game.
