Astro Bot has slowly but surely paved its way to becoming one of the mascot characters for Sony and PlayStation. What started as a small "demo-like" experience that comes pre-installed on the PS5, has now evolved into a full-fledged $60 AAA game. It is scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, exclusively for Sony's current-generation consoles.

Although the upcoming title from developer Team Asobi looks a lot like the Astro's Playroom, which comes pre-installed for free on the PlayStation 5, it's a much more expansive and content-rich experience. The game is built on the same foundations as Astro's Playroom but features a lot more levels for players to explore.

Much like any other first-party PlayStation game, Astro Bot is offered in two different editions - a $60 Standard Edition as well as a more expensive Deluxe Edition for $70. However, is the Deluxe Edition worth the extra $10, or is it best to stick with the Standard Edition? Let's find out.

Should you get Astro Bot Deluxe Edition for the PlayStation 5?

First things first, whether you buy the Deluxe Edition or the Standard Edition, you'll get access to the full base game of Astro Bot. Additionally, if you pre-order the game, you'll receive bonus costumes. That said, for the additional $10, the Deluxe Edition offers some cool exclusive costumes for Astro as well as the Dual Speeder.

Additionally, the Deluxe Edition also comes with exclusive PSN avatars to adorn your PlayStation profile, the digital artbook, and the soundtrack. And considering all this is bundled for just $10 extra, I think it's totally worth getting the Astro Bot Deluxe Edition.

However, if you don't mind missing out on the exclusive cosmetics, PSN avatars, and other digital trinkets, then the Standard Edition isn't really a bad choice. And if previous PlayStation releases are anything to go by, we can speculate that Sony might eventually release a "Deluxe Edition Upgrade" bundle for $10 or less, for players who bought the Standard Edition.

  • Two ASTRO PSN Avatars.

Do note that accessing the exclusive skins for Astro and his Dual Speeder will require game progression.

Additionally, the pre-order bonus cosmetics for Astro and the Dual Speeder aren't exclusive to the Deluxe Edition, it's available for the Standard Edition owners as well, as long as they purchase the game before its release on September 6, 2024.
