After testing the waters with Astro's Playroom, Team Asobi realizes the full 3D platformer concept potential with Astro Bot. This expanded sequel to the PS5 launch pack-in tech demo fires on all cylinders for a massive 3D platformer adventure, but does it round things off with the inclusion of co-op multiplayer? After all, fun is always amplified when played with others.
Furthermore, given the game's collect-a-thon nature, allowing a two-player co-op would be the perfect icing on the cake for the ambitious successor. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. Read on to find out more about multiplayer for this game.

As per the official PlayStation Store page, Astro Bot is a purely single-player experience. So neither local nor online co-op is available. Like its 2020 predecessor, it is centered around the titular Astro Bot making its way through colorful levels packed with different themes and mechanics while collecting coins and rescuing mini bots.
As such, the game's various set pieces and gameplay elements have been designed with just one player in mind. This sequel further expands on the interactivity aspect of the prequel experience, with tons of physics-based objects like a swarm of nuts and bolts or a pool of gems scattered around various themed stages. Keeping its performant metrics in mind, it could be the reason for the exclusion of multiplayer.
That said, the only Astro Bot experience that features co-op is The Playroom VR, a free standalone spin-off for the PSVR and PSVR2 platforms.
What platforms is the game available on?
Released on September 6, 2024, it is a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Just like its predecessor, it leverages the full power of Sony's current-gen machine to deliver a magical experience like no other. While several PlayStation experiences have arrived on PC on day one, including Helldivers and the ill-fated Concord, this is not one of them - perhaps that will change in the future.
