Just a day after its early access beta hit the Steam digital storefront, Concord seems to be already failing to attract PC players. PlayStation's ambitious first-person shooter IP was revealed in May 2024, while promising to be an alternative for gamers who want a new 5v5 Multiplayer shooter title. However, the miserable stats for the early access beta are not painting a good picture ahead of next month's global release.
For those unaware, Concord isn't going to be a free-to-play, but a $40 5v5 Multiplayer first-person shooter, developed by Firewalk's team under PlayStation Studios.

$40 Concord on PC is struggling with a poor player count on Steam
The early access beta began on July 12, 2024, for PS5 as well as PC via the Steam digital storefront. However, it appears that the paid game might not gain the much-needed momentum in terms of attracting a large number of PC players.
Based on a report by the SteamDB website, Concord's early access beta has a concurrent player count of only 491 as of writing this article. Moreover, the game has witnessed a peak active player count of only 1,124 players.
But why is this a worrying sign? Concord happens to be one of PlayStation's biggest first-party releases in the remaining half of 2024. Another paid online shooter game, Helldivers 2, was launched by PlayStation in the first half of 2024 and turned out to be a huge success.
On Steam, Helldivers 2 had initially registered an impressive player count among PC users. However, Concord appears to be failing already, let alone reaching the level of peak concurrent players witnessed by Helldivers 2.

Early access beta is plagued with a ‘Fatal Error’
A major reason why the player count is low on Steam could be due to the game not launching for many players due to a fatal error popping up when trying to boot it up. This means that even if there are enough players who have pre-ordered the game, they cannot play the early access beta on PC.
The developers need to make sure the experience is stable enough to attract more users to maintain at least a decent player count on Steam heading towards the launch next month.
Being a paid title at $40, the upcoming 5v5 Multiplayer shooter will need a strong boost in its player count on PC, which doesn't seem to be the case right now. But, the free open beta is yet to arrive next week. Hence, there's still a chance for it to get the necessary attention from PC players on Steam.
It will be intriguing to see if it manages to generate a huge buzz or not before its global debut on August 23, 2024.
