Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty won’t be a free-to-play expansion.
On June 11, the Xbox Showcase gave fans a closer look at Cyberpunk 2077's forthcoming DLC Phantom Liberty. The new addition adds a subplot to the main game focusing on the Dogtown disputes in Night City.
V then joins the New United States of America and Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba. The added material is a substantial improvement to the game.

Free updates have added more material to the game but Phantom Liberty is more than just a bug fix and some decorative goodies. Instead, it introduces a new playable plot while reworking the previous experience.

The next expansion will not be free as it will cost $30/£25 and the DLC is currently available for pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Phantom Liberty will cost far more than The Witcher 3's two expansions, which costs merely £8/$10 and £12/$15, respectively.
The expansion will go live on September 26, 2023. It takes place before the conclusion of the main game and presents a brand new side tale for players to immerse themselves in. It also wholly overhauls many of the game's previous mechanics, resulting in a new Cyberpunk 2077 experience.
