The biggest selling point of Detroit Become Human is its deep and emotionally impactful storyline. The narrative follows three androids—Kara, Connor, and Markus—whose stories intertwine based on the player’s decisions. You will have the full agency and ability to alter the fates of each of these characters. You can strive to give them a happy ending or end up with a horrific end.

The main theme is how robots can be more human than humans in a future where kindness and generosity are more rare than fresh air. For example, Kara's story follows her struggles as she tries to save a child from their abusive parents and flee to a safe haven to give them a better future.

Her story shows how even a machine can develop a maternal bond so strong that it exceeds the boundaries of society and go to extreme lengths to give her child a chance at life. Similarly, each character has a storyline that challenges our perception of what it means to be Human.

Detroit Become Human features a flowchart system that visually tracks your choices and their consequences, making it easier to explore different narrative paths. This system enhances replayability and gives you a clear understanding of how their actions impact the story. The game also has multiple difficulty levels and customizable quick-time events (QTEs) to keep you on the edge of your seat.

While the story is marvelously crafted, some players and critics feel the themes of historical and social issues are presented in an overly simplistic manner, which might detract from the overall experience for those seeking a more nuanced approach.

Other than that, despite its decision-driven narrative, the gameplay is relatively linear, with limited exploration opportunities. This might not appeal to you if you prefer open-world environments or more traditional action gameplay. However, the focus on storytelling and choice compensates for this limitation.

In the end, if you're looking for a moving, emotionally driven, and masterfully crafted narrative experience, Detroit Become Human is the game to play. However, if you're looking for a fast-paced, action-heavy adventure, this isn't the title to pick.
