Dragon Age The Veilguard is easily one of the biggest upcoming releases of 2024. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, considering The Veilguard is the first mainline title in the Dragon Age series since 2014's Inquisition. Furthermore, The Veilguard also marks the first major title coming from developer Bioware, after their "not-so-stellar" 2019 release - Anthem.
Although The Veilguard has had a rather rocky development cycle for almost a decade, it's finally going to be released on October 31, 2024. It is currently available for pre-order on all current-generation platforms. And, much like any other modern AAA release, The Veilguard offers multiple editions to choose from.
As is the case with most games that come in a variety of editions, deciding which version to buy can become a rather daunting task for players. On that note, here's everything you need to know about Dragon Age The Veilguard's various editions, and whether you should fork out $90 for the Deluxe Edition or not.

Should you buy Dragon Age The Veilguard Deluxe Edition?
Dragon Age The Veilguard Deluxe Edition comes with a massive array of exclusive cosmetics for the Rook as well as the companions. However, I don't think it's worth the additional $20 that EA is charging for it. Had it been $10, it would've made more sense, but for $20 extra over the base game, those cosmetics don't add enough value to the experience.
It's best to simply stick with the Standard Edition if you plan to pre-order the game. Furthermore, if past EA titles have been any indication, those Deluxe Edition extras will be sold separately at a later date. If you enjoyed the base game of The Veilguard, you can simply get the Deluxe Edition upgrade later.

Standard Edition ($69.99)

With The Veilguard, Bioware has adopted a completely action-focused approach, ditching the previous entries' hybrid turn-based combat system. Furthermore, the art style has been completely overhauled. Instead of the gritty, and more grounded esthetics of the previous entries, the latest title employs a colorful and "cartoon-ey" art style.
It remains to be seen how the bold new direction of the series will be received by fans and newcomers, when Dragon Age The Veilguard releases on October 31, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
