Is Dynasty Warriors Origins an open-world game? 

The question of whether Dynasty Warriors Origins is an open-world game might come to the head of many fans. Given some of Omega Force’s previous endeavors, like Fate/ Samurai Remnant, featured an open-world, this is a big query that might hit your mind if you want to get into the recent entry of the Dynasty Warriors franchise.

Dynasty Warriors Origins is not an open-world game in the traditional sense. This comes as no surprise to fans of the franchise.

Let’s take a look at how the environment in Dynasty Warriors Origins works as I try to explain why it is not an open-world game in the traditional sense.

Why is Dynasty Warriors Origins not an open-world game?

Despite the previous entry to the franchise, Dynasty Warriors 9, featuring an open-world, the developers have decided to take the traditional linear approach with Origins. However, exploration is not totally off the table, as the game does have a map where you can move freely.

The view of this map is presented in an isometric or like a bird’s eye view, where you will be able to move from one location to another.

You can explore the map at your own whim, but certain areas will not open up till you progress the story. Some provinces are tied to the narrative, so completing campaign missions will unlock more areas of Ancient China, where you will be able to fast travel in Dynasty Warriors Origins after you activate the Waymarks.

Each province will feature several locations, such as towns and cities you can access and even use various facilities like a Shop and an Inn. At times, you can also find optional Missions and Skirmishes in which you can participate, as well as allies with whom you can forge a bond.

When you are in combat, you get thrust into an open-ended area where you are free to progress as you like. You will have several objectives and bases that you will need to overcome as well as assist any ally in need. The map for each battle scenario will be unique and open-ended.

Thus, despite Dynasty Warriors Origins not being an open-world game in a traditional sense, features exploration for you to roam, find side quests, bond with allies, and discover items like Old Coins.
