Could there be bots in Marvel Rivals?

As per the Redditor, bots exist only in Quickplay game mode as of now. While a lot of players have already speculated on this, u/ciaranxy shared an in-depth observation on the official Marvel Rivals Subreddit. These bots seem to appear after players lose two or more consecutive matches and form a mixed lobby, usually of four players and two bots against a team of six bots.

Marvel Rivals surpassed over 20 million players in less than a month since its release. Hence, the lack of players is likely not the reason for bot lobbies — their purpose might be to keep players engaged even after they get losing streaks. As per the observation, the bot accounts will always have an account level 1 with profiles marked as "restricted access".

By allowing players to win against weaker opponents, they can be prompted to continue playing the game and even potentially invest in in-game purchases. While this seems like an understandable approach, having bots in real player lobbies has always been a major debate amongst gamers for years.

Do note that NetEase Games has never officially stated the presence of bots in the game. However, if the Redditor's claims turn out to be true, the company should address this officially to clear the community's doubts.
