Monster Hunter Wilds, the highly anticipated new mainline entry in developer Capcom's most iconic action RPG series, finally has a confirmed release date. And with that announcement comes a plethora of details on the game's pre-order as well as the various editions that Capcom plans to release for the latest Monster Hunter title.

This is the series' very first foray into the current-generation systems, i.e., PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As such, Wilds is the first mainline title in the Monster Hunter franchise that's releasing with a $70 price tag, for the Standard Edition. And as tradition dictates for modern titles in the series, Wilds is offered in multiple different editions.

While the game starts at $70, it goes up to a whopping $110 for the Premium Deluxe Edition. However, is it worth paying $40 extra for Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition, or is it best to stick with the Standard Edition? Let's find out.

Should you buy Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition for $110?

The Premium Deluxe Edition comes with not only the Premium and Deluxe Packs, but also add-on costume bundles that will be released as post-launch DLCs. However, despite all the exclusive cosmetics on offer, the Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition isn't compelling enough to warrant charging an additional $40 over the base game.

As such, it's not worth buying or pre-ordering the Premium Deluxe Edition. However, if you're okay with spending $40 over just cosmetics and are a huge fan of the series, then there's no harm in getting the most expensive digital version. But for most players, the Standard Edition is the best choice.

What does Monster Hunter Wilds Premium Deluxe Edition offer?

The Premium Deluxe Edition offers everything included in the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the game, alongside a host of additional post-launch cosmetics. The primary reason why you'd want to buy the Premium Deluxe Edition over the others is to secure the post-launch DLCs. However, the DLCs are nothing more than cosmetics and a few new hairstyles.

Furthermore, the DLCs can be bought at a later date for roughly the same price, making the Premium Deluxe Edition more or less redundant.

Here's a breakdown of the different editions of Monster Hunter Wilds:

Standard Edition ($69.99)

  • Base game
  • Pre-order bonus

Deluxe Edition ($89.99)

  • Pre-order bonus

The Deluxe Pack includes the following items:

  • Seikret Decoration: Soldier's Caparison, General's Caparison
  • Felyne Layered Armor Set: Felyne Ashigaru
  • Pendant: Avian Wind Chime
  • Gesture: Battle Cry, Uchiko
  • Hairstyle: Hero's Topknot, Refined Warrior
  • Makeup/Face Paint: Hunter's Kumadori, Special Bloom

  • Nameplate: Extra Frame — Russet Dawn

Premium Deluxe Edition ($109.99)

  • Base game
  • Pre-order bonus
  • Deluxe Pack
  • Premium Bonus
  • Cosmetic DLC Packs 1 & 2

The Premium Bonus includes the following items:

  • Hunter Layered Armor: Wyverian Ears
  • Premium Bonus Hunter Profile Set
  • BGM: Proof of a Hero (2025 Recording)

The Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 (planned for release in Spring 2025) includes the following:

  • Hunter layered armor: 1 series (5 pieces), and 1 piece
  • Seikret decorations: 2
  • Pendants: 6 (Color variation)
  • Pose Sets: 1
  • Makeup/Facepaint: 1
  • Sticker set: 1
  • BGM Set: 1
  • Pop-up camp customization contents: 2

The Cosmetic DLC Pack 2 (planned for release in Summer 2025) includes the following:

  • Hunter layered armor: 1 series (5 pieces)
  • Pendants: 6 (Color variation)
  • Gesture sets: 2
  • Hairstyles: 2
  • Makeup/Facepaint: 2
  • Sticker set: 1

The pre-order bonus includes the following:

  • Hunter Layered Armor Set: Guild Knight
  • Talisman: Hope Charm

Considering everything the Premium Deluxe Edition comes bundled with, it doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. However, for $110, it's not really worth it. Had it been $20 extra, it would've made a lot of sense, but not for $40.

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC.
